I put Borax on the carpet and use diatomateous powder. I know I misspelled that word but I need more coffee! 4951

Time and patience, we had an outbreak 3 years ago and no matter how clean I was they were not going away. Sprays are dangerous. What I did was open a 13 gallon bag and lay it on my counter. I put the best stinky stuff I could in the middle opening, next to it I had another bag opened and ready. I would turn all lights off. About 1am I would sneak in, grab the bag, quickly close it and spin it tightly shut and tie it. I then put it in the other bag and did the same and dispose it. I did use some spray in corners and stuff but not alot. After a few weeks I noticed they were almost all gone. In a month, gone for good. 4951

I have dead/dying roaches all over my house! Every morning I wake up and there are more! I detest those pests. I'm glad they are dead, but can't they die elsewhere?! 4951

@Burnsway:
Sounds smart. And exhausting.

This is why you don't hire a very hunky pet control guy.  Hire an ugly one, keep you hands off and let the man do his job.   4951

As my exterminator explained it, these bugs don't come because homes are dirty. They are the larger ones, looking for water sources. They travel up the pipes, etc. It's the german cockroaches that are smaller and multiply by the thousands. 4951

This is Texas no matter how clean your home is those damm bugs always come in

@silly123:
And that's where cats can be your best helpers as well as your best friends. They love to hunt for bugs and like to sit at the doors and wait for them to come in. Bugs never stand a chance.

In the summertime, we get those large ones in the garage, but never in the house. Once they try to cross the threshold of the doors, the cats pounce....then, chomp...very dead bug!

@donnatella: Our cats play with the flying ones.  Nasty.  Some of those can be almost the size of your foot.  The cats don't kill them.  We usually have to and I hate the crunch noise they make.  They come in under the doors I think.

@dotti573:
They do, unless the house is dirty and then they set up shop, breed and live there. Anyone can get a few under the doors but if there's nothing there for them to eat, they don't stay. At least that's been our experience. We also treat the yard and garage instead of inside the house.

@donnatella: What do you use to treat?  We have pets so we have had the exterminator out twice this summer already.  I do see them in the garage when I turn on the lights at night I will see them run.  There is a gap on both garage doors so I know them and the geiko's crawl under there.

@dotti573:
Okay, here's the scoop:

For the Yard - Ortho season-long ant and bug killer granules. There are other brands too and they all do the same as long as it says "season long granules."

For the Garage - Hot Shot home insect control 9 month control spray.

Hope this helps and works for you. 4951
