I called about adding my daughter's 1991 (21 year old car), who is also 21 years old...lol.  My insurance wants to add $1200 a year ($100 a month) for LIABILITY on a 21 year old car, for my 21 year old daughter.  This is crazy!!!!!!
I am calling around to other insurance companies tomorrow...

@Zokomo:

My insurance for a 1991 Honda Civic started at $165 a month... only after having it for a year did the cost go down. I am 26 now... once a child gets past the 25 year range insurance drops significantly... it's because she's still a 'dependent" until 25, married or with child... sucks but true...

@rmille34:

That's true - highest insurance is for single males under the age of 26.  Normally cheaper for females, if you get married you get a break, when you turn 26 you also get a break.  All these are based on statistics as to what demographic has the most accidents.  Insurance companies also check your credit score now as well, so that can come into play.

@manhunter:

Ugh... I ride a bicycle everywhere recently so no need for insurance...

Even my motorcycle insurance when I was 21-22 was insane compared to what i hear most people paying. for a 2001 Suzuki Savage 650cc and a clean license it was $97 a month...

The way young folks drive around here, I'm surprised it's not more.
