Since most of my favorite restaurants have been added to the Landry's group, the seafood has gone downhill.  That is why I still prefer the Pappa's restaurants.  Pappadeaux's and Pappa's have never disappointed me.  I miss the Willie G's, Grotto, and so many others that used to be wonderful.  Tillman Frattita (sp) bought so many of them and made them all mediocre. 4951

I highly recommend The Monument Inn.  We ride the ferry over.  If you are interested you can visit theBattleship and the Texas Monument.  The seafood is wonderful at The Monument Inn.

@Humbletexan1: Now how did I forget to list that place? Definitely a favorite!!!

Also in Galveston, can't beat Gaido's. 4951

We went to TopWater Seafood in San Leon on April Fool's Point on Sunday. So good and worth the drive. We picked up our grandson in LaPorte then drove down to treat him to a shrimp and oyster dinner. 4951

I know you were working hard yesterday!

@Fallon:

Gotta take the grandson back home to Santa Fe then on to San Leon to buy shrimp and oysters at Hillman's. Going to have boiled shrimp, gumbo and tamales for Christmas dinner. Then I get to rest... and for sure I will.

Maine-ly Sandwiches. It's a sandwich shop, not a restaurant. However, being from Maine I can tell you that they genuinely deliver a true taste of Maine lobster, crab and fried clams. To make your Maine excursion complete, be sure to get a can of Moxie and a whoppie pie for desert! 4951

@DeannaU:   What is whoppie pie?  I've heard of Moxie but never tasted it.

I always wanted to know how the Baytown Seafood restaurants were...? Can't always trust Yelp. I want the best fried shrimp around and BIG portions! 4951
