I delivered pizza years ago. I made minimum wage plus a gas stipen. Plus tips. Most tipped $1-$2 sometimes I would get a $5. On big party orders up to $10 I always had lots of cheese and pepper packets and would check my orders before I left the store. Of course a friendly smile and friendly attitude always helps. I found if I complimented their yard my tips were better. Especially those folks who were big on green well Manicured grass.
@N+T: I generally tip pizza guys (or girls) $4-$5. If the weather is really bad, or super hot, or it's a busy time like Superbowl Sunday, I will throw in a couple bucks more.
I guess people who have worked in the service industry before tend to be the better tippers because we have been in those shoes before.

To each their own, some people don't really understand it, and don't like it, and they aren't going to change their minds about it. I knew I didn't want to be in that kind of industry forever, and I'm not, and I do pretty well for myself, so now it is my turn to take care of those that are doing the job that I used to do, and I greatly appreciated those tips when I did that kind of work.

One day, my kids may be doing that kind of work while in high school or college and I would hate to see them work so hard and not be rewarded. 4951
