We have been regular customers of Veron's ever since they were located here in Kingwood. They used to be across the street from Wendy's in that little strip center. We love everything there, but our favorites are the andouille, smoked sausage, and tasso. They are AMONG the best in LA, and are certainly the best (maybe only?) in this area. The best andouille I ever had was a tie between my dad's homemade and from old man Jacobs in Reserve, LA. Jacobs had a small country store and made andouille, smoked sausage, tasso, etc. As he got older, he dropped the rest of the store and just did the meats. When he died, his sons opened a new place in LaPlace. Theirs is good but not quite as good as their dad's. I would say Jacobs and Verons are about equal. I have seen some andouille near Lafayette that was ground fine. To me, andouille is made from chopped hunks of pork, not ground. 4951
There was this place in Lafayette that use to sell crawfish bread that was out of this world good. But they closed down in the 1990's. I haven't seen anybody make it since. When ever DH and I would get our measly little minimum wage checks we would go buy crawfish bread as a treat during our college years. 4951
