When your spouse tells you to be ready when they get home... are you ever actually ready?

I'm sure most men are because guys just have to get dressed & they're ready, but I have such a hard time actually being ready!! Unless I know it's something like a concert, or something we've been planning, then I'm always ready. DH called about 40 minutes before he got off work & told me to be ready when he got home because he wanted to take me & DD to see Frozen. The movie times are 3:50pm & 4:20pm. I was in the middle of folding laundry. I meant to be ready but I guess time escaped me. Anyways, I heard the front door opening what felt like 5 minutes later, knew it was him, & literally ran into the bathroom to jump in the shower. He heard me running (upstairs). I was caught, lol. Me "Oh hey babe, you're home early." Him: " Don't play. 2:30pm, same as every day. Hurry up, crazy." I ALWAYS do this, lol! We'll still make the movie, but I can't be the only one who does this, am I? 4951

Yes @Heathur, yes you are.  LOL!!!   Just kidding - surely you are not.  I know my sister is the same way....she is always scrambling at the last minute to get ready to go somewhere - drives me nuts.  I am a perpetually ON TIME person!!  I REALLY have to work hard to be "on time" or "fashionably late" and not early.  lol!! 4951

If I am on time, I feel like I am late.  I always use to run late, but then I married my dh.  He is beyond punctual!  Made me crazy at first.  Then he simply said, you know it is so rude to make people wait.  Never was late again after that.  And when I started taking the kids to school, omg, I am never late!  They have to be there early to feel like they are on time.  I am the same way with picking them up too.  Never late for that.All around it is just easier to be on timeEmoticon

@Fallon:
I'm super punctual with stuff like school & extracurriculars, but I guess it's the last minute unexpected time frames I have issues with, lol. 4951

I wonder how long he should be mad at you Emoticon

@mm4731: Later tonight I'll just do what he told me to do in his sleep & he'll totally forget I wasn't ready. Emoticon 4951

if my hubby tells me to be ready when he gets home, he better tell me that morning before he leaves for work. No kidding. I have to shower , curl my hair & find something to wear & get dressed.This can not be accomplished in 2 hours , I need at least 5 hours to do it all & be waiting with a smile on when he walks thru the door. Any thing less is not acceptable...period !I'm too old & been married too long to be rushed.... 4951

It depends on how motivated I am to go. I'm completely ready to go when he arrives about 50% of the time. About 25%, I lack about 5 minutes to being ready (final bathroom trip or put on jewelry and perfume), and the rest, I'm just getting started, like you were, mostly because I don't want to go. 4951

If I ask my wife "Hey, do you want to go......?"   I don't get to finish because at that point, she's already in my truck. 4951

I've learned with my hubb, that if he says "Be ready, let's go" that he means it.........and is SERIOUS about it....."Early is on time, and on time is late".....  A repeated motto in our home..... 4951

I can be ready and presentable in 5 minutes. If we are attending a function I can get gussied up in 20. My man appreciates this! 4951
