got a question,,, to the shoppers..I got a Christmas gift,, and I like it.. but when I found out the price, and where it was purchased, I was not very happy. I found the same item at a discount store,,,, (and I told her that),, but she still bought it at a mall store. I know she is just trying to give a gift,, but why go out and spend at least $60 more, for the same item?I have to take it back to exchange or return it.... Should I return it and get money back, then go buy the other one? OR just exchange it for a different size, and not complain?NO I am not telling her. 4951

They will probably not give you the cash. Some pay extra because of convenience. 4951

Probably a spontaneous purchase or short on time. You can get almost anything these days at a discount with a minimal effort. I bought something online and did a search for the discount code for the site. Saved $30 instantly.   4951

I have been wanting to go to Bath and Body but decided I would never get to the mall for one reason or another.  I got on line and also went to Slickdeals.net for a coupon code.  Having it delivered to work so it's not stolen off my porch.   4951

Be happy with the gift, and just go exchange it for a different size.  It is a gift....why complain about it?  I know you said she could have spent less elsewhere, but she didn't so what is done is done...and you just have to accept that and be thankful that you got something.  4951

The world is full of people who are different than you. You may be the smarter one on this issue but most likely she kicks your *** on another one. 4951

I say exchange the size. If they don't have your size, pick something else at the same store. Go together! Bond over margaritas and a lively discussion about how crazy mall shoppers are, and how Deerbrook used to be nice, etc. 4951

ya,,, I know its a gift. But we are kind of tight on cash, and she bought a lot of extra stuff, she shouldn't have...  That's the only reason I asked. She knows I hate spending money, just to spend on stuff. I prefer to look around, before I jump at buying anything. I try to budget as much as possible.besides,, I always tell her,, never buy from the mall, until you shop around first... I hate malls 4951

There sure are a lot of "I"s in there. The money has been spent. Is $30 worth the problems it could cause? 4951

@pharlap: Well if it is a married couple and the money came out of a joint account...... well then I understand being a bit upset.. I would see if they will give you the money and then go buy the cheaper one....  This happend with my sons..  One son, 17 bought his brother 19 a DVD at Barnes and Noble for 30.00!!!  I know darn well he could have gotten it much cheaper at Walmart or even best buy..

update,,,,So I went to the stores,,, did not find the one I was looking for at the cheaper store,, they were out,,, But I took the item back to the main store,,, MALLS SUCK!,,,, and got a different size which would work better for what I need.yes,,, joint account, but she used her personal account...we have an agreement,,, I pay the house and bills, groceries, and gas. She pays the extra stuff for kids, such as lunch, baseball, other sports, clothing, etc... However for Christmas we agreed to share money, I gave her $400 for shopping and food for Christmas dinner.Yes there is a lof of "I"  in this,,, because I pay for 90% of crap,, so I will eventually have to budget to cover expenses. And I probably wont come out a head. My point,,, is why buy something more expensive and if you shop around you can find it cheaper someplace else,, just going to the store next door? 4951
