After feeling like I was getting a cold I wanted some hot Mexican food.  Drove from Northpark to Kingwood Drive and they were closed with note on the door.  That seems to be going around these days.a woman that serves us came out to the car and said they were closed and won't be open for a couple or months or so.  Moving into the old fish place on Northpark. That a quite a bit smaller place I think.  I wonder why they would close down in the cold weather when they get most of the business???sorry for spelling and wording  not feeling so good 4951

That is odd but that place did have an odd smell when we ate there...we only ate there once (because of the smell).Hopefully the smell was the place and not the food LOL. 4951

I never noticed a smell and we used to eat there nearly once a week, as did a lot of our friends. Anyway, the owner bought the Mexican restaurant on Hamblen Rd and is focusing on that location. Same great food. :-) 4951

The Hamblen road location seems to be a graveyard for restaurant owners, I hope they have better luck there. 4951

We eat there sometimes. No problem, thought it was decent. The waiters are not that great. Sometimes they have live music which is kinda fun.    4951

@Ann2800: I heard awhile back,, that the owner of the shopping center was raising rent prices, and was having them pay for all repairs to the building, even if it was not part of their facility.. That is why many places have closed shop there and left.I don't like the idea of them moving to that smaller place, I think they expanded the old Fish place to include the area next door,, but I do like the idea of it being closer to the casa

@noel: So, the place on Hamblen is changing owners/names again?  As ET said, it's a graveyard for owners.  There has been nothing successful there.  Probably because it is a dark, dank place. It's old, appears dirty, even if it's not.  The parking lot is not inviting and the bars on the front of the store make it look like it's a crime ridden location.  I've only been in there twice in the 13 years we have lived here - I may try the "new" restaurant, just don't know.  But I do not see it as being successful unless the owner makes the place inviting as you drive by.

They only place that did a real good business @ the Hamblen location was Raphael's. The place was always crowded inside & out. They had real good food at good prices & Raphael was just so personable, but he sold out to the guy who owns Rico's.  That's when we stopped going there. The prices almost doubled & it wasn't as good as Raphael's. 4951

We had a KDC meetup at Los Palomos.  The food was good.  My wife and I went back again.  We go down North Park a lot more than Kingwood Dr, so the new location will be more convenient! 4951
