Myself. Michael was so excited last night..he had had the girls wrap a present for me in 8 boxes..he couldnt wait till christmas to give it to me..it is the most hideous ring. Its a swirl design I NEVER would have picked. It has some nice diamonds and is platinum but its terrible. He is going to expect me to wear it everydayEmoticon I need to find a way to lose it. 4951

I hope he's not reading this forum. Emoticon

You have been married 22 years. It gets really hard after that much time. Unless there is something special and affordable, it's kinda nuts.

I have a friend and she and her husband decided to just get something they both wanted for the house, A trip, whatever as their Christmas gift. Takes off all the pressure to perform and get gold stars every year. 4951

A few birthdays ago I gave my wife a very nice (and expensive) necklace from Jared. Her response to me? I would really rather have an iPad. So I took it back and told her to go get the iPad herself. What **** me off more than anything, was the fact that I kept asking her what she wanted and she didn't say anything. That's the last time I bought her jewelry and will be a very long time before I do it again.My advice - be glad that they even bought you anything. Some guys just blow off giving gifts or end up getting something really lame at the last minute from Walgreens. The old saying rings true - It's the thought that counts. 4951

@WskyTngoFxtrt:
Its not that I am ungrateful and I was adequately happy. He will never know and I will wear it around him.Emoticon

He bought me yellow tulips once...I hate the color yellow and I just couldn't get the horrified look off my face soon enough. He hasnt bought me flowers since.

Gift giving is way too stressful!  I'm sure your DH was so excited about your gift.  I too hope he doesn't  read this forum.

@SandyKnee:
He doesnt. He is about to go play golf.

@WskyTngoFxtrt and @BooBear:  I don't play those games anymore. No more trying to guess what she wants.   Plus, during the year if we need something, we get it.  If we want something AND it fits in the budget, we get it.  There's no need to buy each other presents for birthdays, anniversaries, or Christmas.

Hey Mike, If you are reading this @BooBear (aka your wife) hates her gift. My suggestion to you is that you punch her in her boob, take the ring back, and go with me and the KDC guys to the strip club in my limo Emoticon

@mm4731:
He was already thanked appropriately, thats the only reason he bought it for me anyway.Emoticon

And yes, it was worth diamonds and platinum! 4951

@mm4731:  Yeah, we could have the strippers compete for the ring!   I like to play "Nickle, dime, quarter"

DH and I do not exchange gifts, and instead, we go together to buy something for the house that is a significant purchase.

If jewelry is ever involved, again, it's a joint effort, whether it is a ring, necklace for me, or a special watch for him. We make a day out of it, have lunch, go shopping, etc. 4951

I will take the ring! That is why my husband and I go shopping together. Dh bought me jewelry once that I did not like. We ended up returning it and it was only merchandise credit. I ended up picking out something that cost more! Last time he bought jewelry without me! He did surprise me with an extra gift, the IPad! I think if you really hate, I would tell him. It is too expensive and I think he would rather you like it. You will not wear it much if it really bothers you. 4951
