Is it normal for rpm to be almost 3000 when going 70ish? I remember all the other cars ive had and it was barely over 2000 at that speed(yes its an automatic). Its 2002 civic. I dont even know if it has overdrive or anything. It also seems to take a while to shift sometimes. The fluid is fine. 4951

if it sounds like it is revving too high at highway speeds & shifting too hard or late,it's worth reporting while it's still under warranty......jmo 4951

@BowtieGuy: 300 RPM isn't even idle for most cars. 3000 RPM sounds about right for a 4-cylinder engine. (they rev higher than a V6 or V8)

@BooBear:   I had a truck that wouldn't slip into overdrive unless I got up to highway speed then lifted off the gas slightly.  Turns out it was a simple adjustment to the gas cable.  If it bothers you, take it to the shop and have them check it.

@BooBear:   hey now!  I've been just a tad preoccupied with nuptials and extended family visitations.  I missed something, obviously.  Give a girl a break and retell the story.  Or I'll show your boob pic we took at OG!

@BooBear: don't the new hondas have the variable transmission? There is no traditional "over drive" on them things!
