I feel like the older I get, the more Christmas shopping feels like work. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Christmas- everything about it, & I like shopping just fine, but after a day of Christmas shopping, I am exhausted! Not a bad thing, just something I'm noticing more as I'm getting older/ my daughter is getting older. Also, I feel like the HOURS put in walking at malls toting around heavy bags condition us for some of the not so healthy eating habits that are prone to occur to this time of year as well. That is all, lol. 4951

Heather you are so right.  I am older though ...I am 53.  I wish I would of learned earlier on that everything doesn't have to be perfect and to take my time.  I have two girls now 21 and 26.  It does get like that more and more as you get older.  I am exhausted and planning planning and in a matter of a few blinks of the eye its over.My gifts have become smaller as they became older...and they really appreciate it more then when I was getting them so much  more.  Sometimes Less is more...   (:   God bless you and get some rest!!!!!  (: 4951

This is the first year we have tried this, but we did the majority of shopping for the kids online this year.  It worked our really well and we got everything on their lists that we had planned on buying.  4951

I too find it feels more and more like work....  I think it is becuase I have to work around my job and other obligations... I think next year I am going to save some vacation time and try to take a week off in early December and try to make it a more enjoyable experience. 4951

I am literally wrapping presents every night, decorate gifts after I wrap them, I help my mom do her wrapping & decorating too because she shops for sooo many people, I plan what's from us & what's from Santa, plan what we're getting for who, budget everything, plan our advent calendar activities, follow through with the activities, plan the elf on the shelf, follow through with the elf on the shelf, I'm constantly at the grocery store multiple times a week, I bake, shop, & repeat. I wonder if DH realizes what all I do during Christmas & why I stay tired, lol. And it's all totally worth it. 4951

One year we had Christmas at our house so everyone coming here just shipped there unwrapped gifts to my wife to wrap and put under the tree for the exchange.  The reason was so they wouldn't have to carry over a bunch of gifts.  She wrapped like 100 gifts. THAT WAS THE Last year we had Christmas at our house.   My wife takes the time to wrap our gifts to other people and she thought that was lame.  The cost of the wrapping paper alone broke our budget that year and we were hosting so had the food budget also.  The biggest culprit still sends our gifts to us unwrapped and expects my wife to wrap her own gift along with ours and put it under the tree.  Well, since no one is here my wife decided to just stick it under the tree as sent and she is already using her present for this year, what is the fun in knowing what you got this early and putting it under the tree. 4951

@Zephard  That's a bummer! It does kill the spirit of it all when you have to wrap your own gift. 4951

I always shop for Christmas at various craft fairs that I attend in Northern Michigan during the summer.  this year we managed to miss out on almost all of them.  Bummer, so I am way behind.  but I will NOT go to malls,  I have a lot of catalogue shopping yet to do !!!!

I bought one present for my husband so far, this weekend I'm going out to get a bunch of gift cards. I need to pick up a few other small things, but that's it for me. 4951

Back when my kids were little I had all the shopping done by Thanksgiving- did I mention I HATE shopping?? I worked in retail for over 10 years and I absolutely despise shopping. The last time I was at the mall was over a year ago looking for a dress for my dd's wedding. Now that the kids are grown I'm lucky if I get the shopping started by Dec 15. I don't get tired physically - it's just tedious mentally. Thankfully I won't have to go to the mall 4951

@Zephard: That's ridiculous that they expect that! I could only imagine not only the price of that, but the hours she put into wrapping! Not cool of them to expect that at all. And how tacky to send a gift not wrapped. I don't blame her for sticking it under the tree as is. No one should have to wrap their own gifts. That's one thing my mom & I are both good about. I make sure she never wraps her own & she makes sure I never wrap mine. When she can't wrap mine, DH does. His wonky wrap jobs are my fav. 4951

My husband and I shopped for our daughter on one day. It was exhausting and annoying. I hate shopping. I did go to Toys R Us on thanksgiving for one item and it was worth my time. Like you, I just have "the one kid" so I think it's easy to knock it all out at once. Our Christmas tree is full of presents and they're all for her Emoticon 4951

I used to like it, but now I'm really hating the crowds, traffic, all the rude people. I have been doing most of my shopping online which i love started that about 4 years ago. Drives the
Kids crazy because boxes are being dropped off. Making candy for friends and family which takes up a lot of time and $$ but I really enjoy that part. Im getting to the point were I want to run away and not have anyone over at my house. With having to entertain, do all the cleaning before during and after without a thank you. I want to go back to having a simple Christmas like we did when I was growing up. I'm beginning to understand why people don't like Christmas its a lot of work 4951
