@Haybugg: Not me but my dad did in a large glass jar along with a block of ice to put in the fridge because it was not electric.

I remember my great great grandmother having this service, you had to put the empty glass on the porch so they could pick it up when delivering the new milk.

People who had ice boxes had the ice delivered too! 4951

I guess some women had laundry pick up for shirts & sheets too. A simple kinda life...maybe not so as much for women with lack of domestic technology. 4951

@Haybugg: My mom used to iron all the sheets when I was a kid.

When I was young, we had milk delivered.  He came very early in the morning so we left the back door unlocked and he came in and put the milk in our refrigerator.  Sometimes, my dad would be up when the milkman arrived and have a cup of coffee with him. 4951

@Retired_Engineer:  I really wish I could have seen what it was like back then.

The late 1920's / early 30's is probably my favorite era in time. Cool cars and decor and a much simpler attitude with an appreciation for the simple things. 4951

I remember that! You'd pick up the phone to call someone and there would be people having a conversation on there! Lol

@Haybugg:   Not me.  I'm quote thankful for the modern technology.  I get enough of that when I go camping.
