Hi all,I'm moving to Kingwood next week and am trying to figure out the best internet provider. My wife and I don't have cable, and use the net to stream netflix or play games. Any recommendations? Thanks! 4951

No, they all suck. I'm not lying or kidding, sadly. We use Centurylink. Price is okay but nobody gets the speed they pay for, not even close. Suddenlink is awful. 4951

I used to have Century Link (via phone) but their service was horrible.  Too many outages and slowdowns.  We used to have to reboot the modem a couple of times each day.   I switched to Suddenlink (via cable) and have been much more pleased.  They are by no means perfect, but they are better than my experiences with Century Link.  I get the 30Mbps service and it stays between 20-30 Mbps speed.  We reboot the modem maybe once every couple of weeks.I just checked andEmoticoning:  21 msDownload:  31.38 MbpsUpload:  2.28 MbpsI think much of the struggle between Century Link and Suddenlink depends on your specific location.  Some streets get good Century Link service and some get good Suddenlink service.  Talk to some of your new neighbors to see what they use and how happy they are.WELCOME TO KINGWOOD! 4951

Our Kingwood business uses Comcast for Internet and cable. I guess it depends where you will be living as to what service is available to you. Suddenlink is my absolute least favorite. 4951

If you're in an area that offers Comcast, go with that -- much faster and more reliable internet. 4951

I've had both and right now I have Century Link, however Suddenlink speed is better but the cable sucks, so when I went with DirecTV, they had a bundle promotion so I ended up going with Century Link. I don't complain about it because it is very rare I will use the internet when home since I am on a computer all day at work. When I leave the office the computer is the last thing I want to be on. If I need to log on it’s just to pay a bill or something and I log right back off. 4951

We have Comcast. The Internet is fast but their customer service is deplorable. And the install guy disconnected my Direct Tv lines, he freaking cut them! So I had fast Internet but no cable for about a week.
No company is perfect around here. 4951

where you live is a big factor.  sometimes there isn't a choice.over time, both Suddenlink & Centurylink have improved. We have Suddenlink and other relatives have Centurylink. 4951

Where in Kingwood is Comcast available?  Are you talking about the south side of the river?  If you're moving to the original Kingwood Suddenlink and Century Link are your options.  Now I don't know what is offered in the new expansion of "Kingwood" west of 59.  If you're in "Kingwood" that is south of the San Jacinto River then Comcast is most likely available to you.  I live in Kings Harbor and I do not have any problems with Sudden Link.  I routinely  get above the 15mbps that I pay for.  I normally get 15 - 20 mbps. 4951

I hate to admit, but I use Comcast. They have insanely fast speed (although I pay out the roof for it), however their basic packages still has about 50% faster downstream and 80% percent upstream. DSL is slow, you're lucky to get 100 Mbit/s downstream compared to 400 Mbit/s you get with cable 4951

As another northerner about to move to KW this thread has me cringing. "Y'all" are bringing me down. Btw- did I use that "Y'all" right? I know it's early, but I wanted to practice. I figure once I'm making mortgage payments in TX it's ok to throw a "y'all" into casual conversation.  4951

@CaptainSkinny: Depends on the context you intended.  If you meant to say that an individual was bringing you down then "y'all" is correct.  If you meant it as a plural possessive incriminating a group then the correct vernacular would be "all y'all".  ;-)
