My hubby has some old trains and the stuff that goes with model railroading. He has decided to part with them....where would he take them for an appraisal . Some of his rail cars are from the 50's, so surely there is value, we just don't know where to go to establish a price.

Is it better to sell on eBay or Amazon or better to sell on Craig's list?

I first thought that when I got mine back from storage....it turns out they didn't have too much value. The best value was when I let my kids play with them, and the joy that they got with them, to me, was priceless. there are some web sites that you can use to appraise them.   4951

I guess old type toys are just that.....old. Our grandsons have no interest in the trains...too much trouble to set up and use their imagination. Of course they are in their teens, so I can understand their feelings.

I'll Google for some train sites and see what I come up with. 4951

I'm setting the trains up under the Christmas tree this year. We will all get to enjoy them once again.  Just hearing them run calms me down. 4951

@TexasOma: Are any of the Lionel name brand??  That is your best chance at any value....  The thing is something is only worth what the market is willing to pay for it...  Antiques have really lost a lot of value since the 80-90's.  It has become a throw away society not many folks "collect" anymore...   Hope you find a good home for it!!  We see it all the time in my business...   Many people think items are valuable and many times it just is not the case.  RARE equals value....  That is why beenie babies where such a scam they mass produced them.  We can barely GIVE them away...
