@N+T:  Yep, but Vets like to tell you they are needed annually so they can charge 3X what they should.

@Retired_Engineer:
I had know idea that is what the American veterinary medical association recommended. Most vets push every year except Rabies. Glad I saw the show, cause my pets due this month for their annuals. ha not now!
Watching TV just saved me some serious cash!!

@topcat:
It is crazy over priced. I tend to forget to give it every 4 weeks anyways. I give it more like ever 6-8 4951

@cgm10sne1: Yeah, I asked my uncle who is a Toxicologist at Cornell and he asked his Vet buddies about it.  He said that there wasn't any significant link to the product and deaths. I never trust the media about anything. I have used it for awhile and haven't had a problem.  BUT, after this box is gone I think I may switch because I just love my doggies so much!!!

Vet called & the dog needs to be seen before they will renew her heartworm meds? If dogs are on HW everymonth can they still get HW, why do they need to be tested yearly before they will overcharge you for the meds??? My dog has been on Triflexis for about 2 yrs & we have no problem. I did see all the media hoopla about it, but I didn't see a reason to change. 4951

Vaccinations have been a vets bread and butter. But studies have shown most animals have been over vaccinated. Sad but true.

I'm skipping a year with most of mine mine and doing the 3 year rabies. 4951

If you would have called a month before the yearly test was due they would have sold you another years worth bc you were up to date at that point.  We were told by a vet to only give every other month as HW is poison.  It takes awhile for baby HW to become Adult worms.  Our dog is due but I would really like to wait another year on her shots. Here is the Confessions video.  Ten mins. in is the VET confession. abcnews.go.com/topic s/entertainment/tv/2 0-20-abc.htm 4951

@calliecat: A veterinarian.  :   )You can research it yourself and see what conclusions you come to on your own.  The HW preventative kills off the baby HW,  it does not kill off the adults.  If you decided to stretch out your HW medication to every 6 to 8 weeks you would need to be a lot more proactive about never missing a dose hence probably the once a month suggestion by most vets along with making more money.

I have gone three months once and they just said to start giving it to them again.  It's on my calendar now.  I try for about 5 weeks.I caught that interview and was shocked too.  Time to research as two of mine are due for their visit. 4951
