@FoFa: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 required all public buildings have access ramps, doors that can be opened by handicapped, etc. Edited: The ADA also initially included all workplaces, but the petrochemical industry (and several others) sued (and won) on the basis that retrofitting refineries and chemical plants so that handicapped could work in the field would put them out of business. We still had to modify all office buildings to meet ADA.
