This year we are going to have several kids college age boys at my moms for Thanksgiving..  I have been asked to handle the snack type food, you know the MUNCHIES that everyone grazes on prior to the meal...   Other than the tired old veggie trays, celery with cream cheese and dev. eggs...   Anyone got any ideas that will not take me tons of time but these young ones will be able to munch on??????? Thanks 4951

I did a cheese tray last year that was a huge hit.  I took a small block of Brie, drizzled honey over it and sprinkled candled pecans on top.  I served it with hearty crackers and a sliced baguet.  I also included the olive variety from HEB (not the one that is marinated with the cheese and sundried tomatoes-the one that is just olives), proscutto ham, a variety of other hard cheeses and some mixed nuts.  My favorite cheeses to include are Barely Buzzed and Smoked Cheddar,

For those that like the basic cheeses, I got a port wine cheese ball, but put it on the table separate from the cheese tray.  (To me there's just no comparison in quality so I don't like to mix the two...)

If you have one handy, a chocolate fountain is always a hit.  We put a variety of fruit (grapes, pineapple, apples, bananas, etc.) and large marshmallows out and let everyone serve themselves. 4951

@GoldenGirl: Considering who you are trying to feed, I would stay away from fancy foofoo appetizers.  For college guys, a simple tray of sliced or cubed cheese, club crackers, and sliced salami. Easy and simple to fix. 4951

Queso & chips! Velveeta, rotel, &, hormel chili. Throw it in the crock pot & add a little milk to make it creamy. Every college boy there will love you. 4951

My MIL does a dip that is always very popular:

block of cream cheese
mayo - enough to make it creamy
diced green onion
diced tomatoes
garlic power (to taste)
salt & pepper (to taste)

It can be served with crackers, tortilla chips, etc.  Whatever you have around..
