What are some tween bedroom ideas for a girl? My 7 year old wants a Paris themed hot pink & black room, but I want to pitch a few other themes to her to make sure that Paris is exactly what she 100% for sure wants. Just 2 yrs ago I re-did her room in hot pink & zebra just like she begged for. This year my mom said she'll gift the room re-do for Christmas, but I explained to DD that she won't be changing room decor bi-yearly & whatever theme/ decor she chose will be sticking for a few years. She is very into "big girl" stuff. No characters. According to her, she's "too old" for characters. Emoticon Her favorite colors are hot pink & black but she's pretty versatile. I'm drawing blanks at themes other than Paris or zebra. Thanks in advance. 4951

Hot pink and black is different from hot pink and zebra?How about paint the walls white, and let her put up posters and photos?No matter what you say, it's what you do that sends the strongest message.  Changing the room decor every two years doesn't clearly send the message that she won't be able to change the room decor every two years. 4951

You could do a gothic era inspired themed room..I don't mean blood, etc etc. Music themed room.I gave my 7 year old and nature themed room last year.  She loves purple and pink but picked green for the color and I went from there.Look on pinterest for themed ideas-just type in what she likes and see if anything pops up. You could also go to the paint store and see if she likes any other colors but hot pink and black. 4951

Do a neutral color wall and themed accessories. That way changing it will be easy. Tween will be a teen in the blink of an eye. Likes and dislikes will change often at that age. 4951

? ???   Since when is seven years old a "tween"...?
Sounds like you're starting down a slippery slope and you've got several more years before she even turns into a teen.  "Princess" is cute when you're a youngster, but If you continue on this pace, she'll be a spoiled rotten princess and that  isn't cute at 13!!!!  . 4951

Uh oh...   We are almost done with my oldest daughter's room.  She has a Paris themed room in pink and black.  It was flipping fun to decorate.  She started High school and wanted a change.   We went from a Winnie the Pooh baby nursery to a tween room with flowers and butterflies to a Pink Paris room.I will post some pics once I get in there and clean up. 4951

I like the Paris idea.  Pintrest is a great place to get ideas and also Houzz.  I painted DD's room a light purple when she was three and she since then she has informed me that she hates purple.  She had to live with it until she was 11 and we moved.  In our house, you get what you get, girly!  Now that she's 11, I might let her pick something she likes in her new room.  I'm not big on themes, though.  I prefer something that will stand the test of time. 4951

Some kids mature faster than others, so If she wants a non character themed room there's nothing wrong with that. I would maybe have her help "earn it" and help do some of the labor involved so next time she asks to change it, she'll remember it takes a lot of work.  Pinterest is wonderful for finding ideas, I'd take a look there and see if you find something she likes.   4951

For the record, I don't consider 7 "tween," but I do consider the look she's going for in a room to be tween, & I'm ok with that. It's something that can grow with her.

@ShineyApples I would loves to see pictures when you get a chance! Emoticon

@monyhoney I've got a lot of cute Paris ideas from Pinterest but I'd never heard of houzz until @cgm10sne1 inboxed me about them. They've got some great stuff too, thanks! DD's favorite color has been hot pink since she was like, 2, lol. There's never been a point in her life where she didn't like pink so I feel pretty confident that it's a color she won't all of a sudden hate one day, lol. I know what you're saying though.

@Grimmie that is most definitely her. She is very into fashion & all things "big girl", but not in a negative way. Her report card & teacher conference let me know that at the end of the first 9 weeks, she was at the highest end of where kids should be both academically & socially by the end of the last 9 weeks. Her teacher said she's very advanced & not just academically. All of her friends are having little mermaid or barbie parties, but she wanted a "Rock Star" 7th birthday. Instead of a certain toy, she wanted a real pink guitar & lessons. Let me put it this way, just last week she was writing an itinerary planning for the baby sitting service she intends to start when she's 12. She's the only 7 year old I know who has a 5 year plan, lol! I like the idea of making her earn it too, that's right up our alley. Will definitely be doing that. Thanks! 4951

@aggiebutterfly:
Love that! That's along the lines of what we're thinking, only plus pink & Paris accessories. She likes damask, stripes, houndstooth, polkadots (in small doses), diamonds, etc. it's just a matter of how to use them all. She had a daybed though & my mom is refinishing an awesomely detailed old wooden desk for her. She's going to paint it bright pink & I'm going to turn it into a desk/ vanity area. I like this a lot though. 4951

They have some to die for lighting fixtures in this theme at Target.I love the Paris rooms.  They are just great.Bed Bath and Beyond had a beautiful damask black and white bedspread last year.  It would be wonderful in a hot pink roomEmoticonIf I had a girl…As it is I just order really great quilts from Pottery Barn.  With boys that is about all you can do.

@Fallon:
I've seen some of the cute stuff at Target. Them & Hobby Lobby have some adorable stuff to fit the Paris Theme. I need to check out Bed Bath & Beyond as well as maybe Garden Ridge too. Thanks! 4951
