I pour it in a ceramic cup and let it sit until it's completely cooled, then I pour it in a small ziplock bag and throw it in the trash.

I remember one of my grandmothers back in the day flipping out if someone threw her bacon grease away. She'd cook everything in it! Emoticon   4951

@brightlights: My mother had a strainer can that she poured it through, then left it sit on the stovetop until she was ready to use it again. Never refrigerated it at all. Maybe she was trying to kill me.

I keep an old coffee can in the utility closet & drain fats into it. Then wrap it a plastic bag & throw it in the garbage. 4951

How do you eat your eggs?!

@Fallon: Never had a fried egg so I just use a nonstick pan if I want eggs. Emoticon  My dad uses a coffee container and throws it away when it get full.  We only eat Turkey bacon here so there is not really any grease/fat leftover.

I save mine! I use it to refry beans. It is also good to flavor baked beans in the can.

I don't eat bacon But rarely so when I have refried beans I use the fat without guilt!

But I love bacon and the flavor of bacon, but it's not very good for you. EmoticonI just keep a small jar in the fridge. 4951

Use it for La red beans and rice. Take half a pack of bacon fat and make your roux with it. Then saute your onion, celery, garlic in the roux. That's how you make the real stuff. 4951

My parents generation (and older) didn't buy cooking oil.  They saved the fat from cooking, but mainly they rendered down fat from a hog when they butchered one.We don't eat bacon very often, but we save the grease.  There is always a use for bacon grease! 4951

I have an old can with a strainer on it. It's specifically for grease. It even says grease on the outside of it. I save it in the fridge and use it for stuff. Either cooking eggs or potatoes for breakfast, or anything else I feel would be delicious cooked with bacon grease. 4951
