I have an inside source that says we are getting a costco. And no...i'm not kidding.  The Woodlands and Kingwood are set for new stores. I'm trying to find out more. 4951

@aggiebutterfly: Yeah, another mega store! only with bulk groceries. 4951
I work in Humble and we got a call from a Costco rep that wanted to come do a sales presentation to our office to get memberships. I talked to her for a few minutes and one of the questions I asked was this area going to be getting a Costco because the people I work with wouldn't drive to the other side of time. She said the Woodlands is going to be getting a Costco next year, but the Kingwood area will be reviewed for growth in 2 years. So it is possible that we will get one, but it will be at least 3 years or so. 4951
Oh thank God! I hope this is true. We moved here in August and searched for the nearest Costco on GPS and couldn't believe that it was 45 minutes away - and that there are like 3 all in the same area, but none on this side of the city!Of all of the places, The Woodlands would make the most sense!I hope this happens within the next year. My husband won't join Sam's, as he believes the meat at Costco is much better. But that drive to Katy was a bit too crazy for me! 4951
We have a Costco & I'm not fond of it at all.... it's okay for groceries , but most of the other stuff they sell is on the cheap side & will fall apart within weeks or sometimes days of purchase. Sorry JMO.... 4951

There was something on the news not too long back...they said Costco only charges 14% more than they pay for stuff...that's why. Walmart/Sams tells sellers WHAT they will pay them, and if the seller doesn't agree, they just stonewall them. They do research to see what is THE CHEAPEST that the product can be made. Then they charge whatever they want to. (That is why a lot of things there are now not much more than JUNK-cheap plastic junk!) Since I buy a few things there, I have noticed they charge different prices in different locations---so I know they do not ALWAYS charge the lowest price everywhere all the time. They offer similar prices to what is in the neighborhood. Many times other stores have much lower prices than they do. (I buy very little there-but one natural cereal is hard to find anywhere else)But Costco ALWAYS charges only the 14% in addition to what they paid, that is why they are better, so you can tell your husband not only that he IS RIGHT, but why. He should like that. 4951
- - - - - - - - >> Ok, he said that Kingwood is getting a Costco next year (2014). Â Did not know exact location just yet... @aggiebutterfly: Do you have to have a membership to shop at Costco like you do at Sam's?
@Heathur: yes you do. either $50 or $100 depending on which one you want 4951
