My company is phasing out our company provided cell phone and going with a stipend instead.  The stipend is NOT going to cover the full amount, which is cool since at least 50% of usage will be non business.  And I can now get a "smart phone" without having to carry two phones. So, I'm looking over various cell phones and plans.I see a droid maxx for 199, but Verizon is charging about 100 per month (for talk time and 2 gb data plan).  Ok, I get that the 199 is a subsidized price, but it makes no financial sense.I can pay 400+ for an unlocked phone, and pay only 35 a month with Virgin Mobile for talk and unlimited data.   In just one year that would save me over $780 (more when tax is considered).  Which of course MORE than makes up for the higher initial amount I'd have to pay for an unsubsidized unlocked phone. Am I missing something here?   4951

Check out Verizon pre-paid.  I've heard that their rates are much cheaper but you still get awesome coverage. 4951

@silly123, what kind of phone do you have with AIO?  I've heard good things about them. 4951

Have the Verizon PP it is 66 a month.  Not that great on the price compared to other pp but I have good coverage for less than their contract plan.  4951

I have Sprint and my husband has Verizon. We both have great cell phone coverage for calls but the Internet speeds are 100x faster on Verizon. 4951
