Having dealt with a close family member who had a drug problem for years and living with the stress and family problems it caused, I have to say I am disappointed in the attitude several of you who frequent this site have with marijuana. I don't care if you think it's no worse than alcohol, the fact is, marijuana is still illegal. What do you tell your kids, that it's OK to break laws that YOU don't agree with? I worked as a nurse for over 20 years and saw the effects that drug use had on several innocent babies who had the misfortune to be born to "parents" that showed up to OB visits high, slurring their speech, etc. I know of someone who thought she was just taking one hit off a simple joint that turned out to be laced with cocaine. She ended up driving the wrong way down a Kingwood street causing a wreck that thankfully, didn't hurt an innocent person or her. Shame on you all and for the sake of the rest of us that have to drive the streets with you, Grow Up!!!!!!!
@southern belle: The simple fact is if marijuana was legalized, that girl would have been able to get it from somewhere other than off the street-it would have been regulated and not laced with coke. As a nurse, you also probably saw many moms that showed up to their appointments drunk and wreaking of alcohol. Heck, I have seen many pregnant women smoking! The effects of both of those on a fetus are just as bad as smoking a joint. As a mom of a child who could possibly benefit from medicinal marijuana I think you are quick to judge and lump everyone in the same category. I have never had a joint and don't plan on it but if medicinal pot could help my child, you are d**n right I would do anything to give her a chance to try it.
