On that topic:Now that my father has retired he's been taking part in volunteer work with his local police. Basically they do ride alongs and help out in minor roles. He was told something I found to be rather suprising: Don't arrest or report people that you pull over who just have personal use amounts of weed on them. They don't care. They only arrest them if they have a lot or they are belligerent. Then the CHIEF said, "but they aren't belligerent, we don't get calls of violent pot smokers. It's the drunks that are the problem."And it wasn't just smoke being blown up..., on a ride along he witnessed a pull over where a guy had a small bag. He was polite, admitted the pot was his, and the police officer just gave him a ticket for something expired and told him to have a nice day.So basically, it's not enforced in some places already. They don't publicly acknowledge it so I'm not saying what area it is other than that it is toward Galveston. I suspect it's the same way many places now.
@Copernicus:
Law enforcement in general does not get too excited any more about user amounts of pot. The paperwork involved and time involved in processing is not worth the outcome in the courts. Normally they will not get too excited unless it is in conjunction with committing another crime, or distribution amounts, or evidence of distributing. 4951
