I have a 4 ft wide x 4 ft long x 7" deep raised bed that I want to fill with compost. How much compost do I need? 4951

You want everything in the same units. So 7"/12" = .5833'4' X 4' X .5833' = 9.33' cubic1 cubic yard= 27 cubic feet9.33' cubic /27' cubic = .35 cubic yards 4951

@choclab: Awesome job, well done.Some people ask how 1 cubic yard can equal 27 cubic feet.Well, there's 3 feet in a yard so 3 feet (long) x 3 feet (wide) x 3 feet (deep) = 27 cubic feet.
