I'm sure this has been brought up but I'm just finding this out now. :/

Friendswood Development Co. is adding on to Kingwood, the master-planned community it developed in 1971, with the purchase 221 acres.

The land will be the future site of Royal Brook with homes starting in the $300,000s, according to commercial real estate firm Avison Young. It is situated in the northeastern portion of Kingwood where West Lake Houston Parkway ends near Mills Branch Drive.

Lee Jones, a principal with Avison Young, represented the sellers, Prabhakar Guniganti and Triplet PG Family Limited Partnership.

Kingwood spans some 15,000 acres with 75 miles of greenbelts and 500 acres of private parks and nature reserves. It is about 24 miles northeast of downtown.

Kingwood was the 12th most active community with 272 houses started in 2012, according to Metrostudy.

Friendswood Development Co. is developing Royal Shores at Kingwood with homes from the $400,000s. The roster of builders consists of Brickland Homes, Jaeger Homes, Rueby Custom Homes, Frontier Custom Builders.

@GoldenGirl: and not only where the new homes will be. Now it will be inevitable to expand NorthPark and Kingwood Dr. I will hate to see those trees go. As bad as traffic is on kw dr, I still like driving on it because of the trees. Emoticon

Frustrating to see the "liveable forest" slowly turn into a concrete jungle. I'm not a fan of increases in traffic either. Most people were initially drawn to Kingwood for what it once was, but Im afraid no matter where you move (except for maybe a hidden cabin in the Appalachians), expansion will inevitably come. I am all for expansion and adding new homes,, however...
1. cutting all the trees,, brings RATS and other animals... I moved here cause I like the trees
2. traffic already sux,,, why add more
3. $300,000 homes??? Who can afford that.  in a few years would be a good to by a foreclosure
4. where do they plan on doing this... last I checked,, kingwood it boxed in,, the city of houston has a strangle hold on kingwood,, up go the taxes

here we go again... 4951
