I am not one to go to garage sales but i stopped at one awhile back and bought a teapot for $1.50.  It is a nice teapot and i use it when i make my chai tea.  I just happened to look up what the imprint on the bottom said and found my exact tea pot for $40 online.  Wow, that never happens to me.  I won't ever sell it, cause i like it and use it but just thought it was cool that i got such a bargain from a quick stop at a garage sale on my way out of the subdivision one day.http://www.rubylane.com/item/180137-12-0284J/Sadler-Pottery-Made-England-Teapot 4951

My best find was....   I was looking for a garage sale in Elm Grove and I came to a house with a drop front desk on the curb...  I was afraid to just load it up so I went to the door and asked and they guy said "take it, my wife is making me get rid of it".   I loaded it up and put some old english on it and consigned it into the auction and it brough 225.00 !!!   That is the luckiest I have ever been.  But I do frequest garage and estate sales....   You have a lot of duds but every once in a while you get a diamond in the rough.... Congrats !!! @N=T 4951

I went to an estate type sale and found an old shoe shine kit and bought it as a joke for my father.  I can always remember him in the garage shining his shoes for work.  We were headed to my parents house for my brother's 50th birthday party and I grabbed the shoe shine kit to hand to my father.  I opened it before hand and under the two round containers of wax, a brush and a cloth, were several silver half dollars.  One was from the 1800's.  Very exciting find.  I took it to my father and he insisted I keep the coins and the shoe shine kit to tell the story.  I think I paid $1.00 for it.  Sweet! 4951

But the second mouse gets the cheese. I have been to some sales where the seller is so tired they say "just take it" or "make an offer" 4951

@mgw300e: I'll talk to my husband about it.  I had mentioned selling it a few weeks ago but he said he would use it for cocoa and tea.  But he hasn't touched it.
