I don't need a grand house, just sturdy, mold free, with enough rooms to separate the kids when they're out for blood. What I'm finding as I'm getting older and my kids are wanting to gain more independence is instead of paying more for the actual house I'm willing to pay more for the neighborhood. I want them to be safe, have a good education, and be able to play in the back yard without stray bullets. That being said, I don't think I could ever bring myself to pay half a million for a house unless it came with 100 acres or more, even if I could easily afford it. 4951

Less is more, IMO.  We spend our whole lives acquiring 'stuff'...that means absolutely nothing at the end of our lives.   I don't envy ONE BIT those folks that live in high falutin' homes. I don't want the upkeep, tax bills, HOA assessment and other associated headaches.  Well, maybe I DO envy their up-to-date kitchens & bathrooms a little! 4951

The only difference between the rich and the poor is the rich owe more.....LOLMore taxes, more credit debt, more car payments, bigger mortgage payments....!I just hate seeing so many people thinking the rich owe them. I'm about as poor as one can get and thats my situation, my fault, my decisions, why in the hell is society so hell bent on believing more and more that other people who have more owe them somehow...:-/The only big business or rich I have issues with is when they got rich off hurting others on purpose, like big pharmacy purposely putting out unsafe drugs just for the money. Dentist abusing kids for larger paychecks, Or criminals that are rich because they stole from people or Government taking billion dollar vacations while taking more money from us...yes that sort of big business I dont like or care for. 4951

While we're on this subject, I found out something that shocked me yesterday.  One of the patrons that got sick on Father's Day weekend at Iguana Joe's/Atascocita has received her settlement.  She didn't go to the doctor so she couldn't supply medical documentation but she did supply a receipt showing she bought food there that weekend.  They sent her $800!  Is this not a bit extravagent?  I know her mother and she said she did get sick, but not sick enough to go to the doctor.  She's telling her mom that she's still having 'issues'....which I sincerely doubt, but it probably helps her 'case' and justifies the settlement in other's minds.  I'm not buying it and I think it's typical of how people cheat the system.  4951

@Love2Run: $800 is cheap.  I wonder what her lawyer got?

about 20 years ago I ate a pecan pie I bought at Kroger. I was so sick and landed the ER for 2 days, doc said he had 4 other cases connected to those pies at kroger. I contacted their main office and they said if I sent them the rest of the pie they would send me reimbursement for doctors and missed work. I sent it in..3 days later I called and checked on the status of it and they said it got lost..no proof no reimbursement........I felt so stupid....LOLI have gotten food poisoning several times, several places, unless its bad enough to really land you the hospital stay and organ damage I dont think a law suit is right....food goes bad and I hardly think places intentionally get you sick, its part of life and many times it was tainted before it landed them.To me its like suing your kids friends parents for giving your kid the flu....LOL **** happens! 4951

@N+T: I think it's outrageous!  And she didn't have an attorney.  She apparently went through the restaurant's corporate office to file her complaint.

I used to wonder how some of my neighbors could afford to drive new cars almost every year and get frequent deliveries from places like Ethan Allen.  One day I was talking to one of those neighbors and he admitted he was up to his eyes in debt!I may not have "fancy" stuff, but I'm debt free. 4951

We have income from other places but we spend NONE of it. We live on both of our salaries rignt now. I have been poor and broke and it has made me CHEAP. I could go right now and buy a big house and all of us brand new cars and still eat but I refuse. I have no debt and no bill collectors calling me.I am not worried if one of us loses our job. That is a PEACE that just about 15 years ago I prayed for. 4951
