We have new neighbors move in behind us yesterday but there is already a problem. They have two large dogs that have no shade or water and have been out all day. Their water bowl is at the back door in the sun I have seen them walk over to it and just walk away wanting water. It's a newer house and does not have any trees, they are trying to get relief from the sun with a little bush that's in the yard. Who can I call to make a check up call? 4951

How about talking to the neighbors first? 4951

@YvetteLara:  I would do everything to get them some water, but would also be sure to tell the owners as soon as I could.  (I wouldn't want to be on someone's property without telling them.)  But I certainly wouldn't wait until they are around to help those poor pups!  Some people just should NOT have pets.  Period.

I would talk to the neighbors before calling and reporting them, maybe there was a misunderstanding with who was supposed to let them in or something. But in the meantime if you can I'd drop a bowl over the fence and pour water in it and a bunch of ice cubes 4951

@ Salth2o I was wondering should I go and tell them but I don't want to cause problems. @ love2 run I was thinking of putting our water hose in between the fence. 4951

@YvetteLara: water hose idea is a good one!  Then you wouldn't have to 'trespass' to offer them some relief.

I think there is a opening between the wooden post that a bowl might fit through. The fence is taller an a regular fence.I am going to try it now. 4951

@YvetteLara:

Instead of talking directly, write an anonymous letter to avoid wierndness between neighbors. Drop it off while they're out 4951

@GoldenGirl: Tie your neighbors up all day just for one day outside in the sun and then say imagine if u had fur. Deliver a ridge hand and then walk off. Wear a mask though.

I gave them water in a bowl with a ziploc bags through the fence so I could pour it and refill without leaving anything on their property. @ squirtismyboy that is a good idea, will do that 4951

I'm afraid since they were irresponsible to begin with (leaving the dogs outside with no shade/water), things won't change just because they receive an anonymous letter.  4951

The note is a great idea.  Watch language to reflect concern and care.  Sometimes writing can be taken wrong. Mention that the water bowl is getting to hot for them to drink from and mention some in expensive shade options like a tarp tied to some poles.  4951

@Love2Run: It may not change anything or it may just for the fact that they know they being watched.

@Zephard:  hope.  and hope it doesn't anger them so that they abuse the dogs more.  That's always my worry.

If they did that then I wouldn't be anonymous anymore.  It would be on. 4951
