My wife being disabled, allows me to do all the grocery shopping. Actually sometimes (about once a quarter) she will accompany me in her scooter, but it is always an afternoon ordeal during the most crowded times, parking usually sucks, even the handicapped, it usually takes around 2 1/2 hours, and always cost me about $75 - $100 more somehow. But I digress.So I am reading her list (barely, she writes worse than I do) and I but this thing she has on there (what it is doesn't matter, this almost a weekly occurrence). 2 weeks later I am searching for something in the fridge to make dinner with (yes I get to that also) and run across whatever thing it was "she had to have", now either dried out and limp or fuzzy (I.E. fuzz growing on it). Another $4.00 to toss out.So how much alien growth do you find in your fridge? 4951

Often that $4.00 item is the price we must pay for a week of harmony. 4951

@mpjp0907 I do that with cherries all the time!I just get busy and don't have the time to take the seeds out of them.  By the time I do, mold is all over them.Yet for some reason, the oreo's are always good to go.  So much for me helping my boys to eat betterEmoticon

@Fallon: ya know same here..its the fruit and veggies that go bad but yet the chips ahoy and oreos are gone within 2 days LMAO

We throw out way too much food. When Kenny cooks, he cooks for 10 people, even though it's just the 2 of us. I don't like eating leftovers, so it gets tossed after a week. I almost always buy too much fruit and veggies. I have good intentions, they just don't always gets used up.

We just threw out 3 steaks that we forgot about. That one hurt!! 4951

@taramay: That used to happen to us.  With some foods, it's just as easy to make a big batch as a little one.  Now we only keep enough leftovers for one more meal in the fridge. The rest gets packaged for meals and are put in the freezer.  Take it out a week or two later and you don't get sick of it.

@Retired_Engineer:

I do need to start doing that. Now that I'm the main grocery shopper, it has cut down on how much gets thrown out. Mostly because I don't like a lot of what he makes, so I just don't buy things for him to cook. I refuse to buy Coke for him anymore too. LOL! Poor guy. 4951
