Ok, I hate to rant here, but with the internet being so available to everyone now, why the heck won't the HOA change their views on an at home business??? The house isn't going to have people going in and out of it, there won't be a store front out of the home NOR will there be any advertising on the property either!!!  I have always TRIED to see the HOA as a necessary evil, helping to ensure that the property value won't go down on my house because they monitor how people keep their house/property looking on the outside....but when in the heck was it OK for them to tell me what I can/cannot do INSIDE my house when NO ONE is getting hurt nor bothered by it?!?!?!??!?!?! Cannot afford the rent on a store front anymore, so basically the HOA has KILLED my dream of running my own business, REAL "GOOD" job HOA people......in this economy when so many people are struggling, you all just helped kill another small business owner!!!! All because of a rule which was made WAY before internet sales were prevalent and they won't change or overlook in such a case as mine, and I KNOW I am not the only one in Kingwood they have hurt by this archaic thinking.Wish we could petition or something, because I think this is ridiculous. Any thoughts??? 4951

Mine is building custom AK-47's and/or AR's....folding and welding metal at home then shipping out to other FFL dealers....NOTHING scary nor bad......they know because the ATF required us to try to get a letter saying they were aware of the business, NOT that they approved or anything, just that they KNEW we were working from the house. They wouldn't give us that, so we had to get a rental place, which has put us in so much debt we can no longer continue and will have to shut our doors. Pretty sad considering we passed all of the ATF stuff (our FBI checks, our home inspection, etc.) all we needed was that letter....   4951

How dare you try to do things the correct way! This is the new America, you must lie and let greed be your driving force, there is a lot of good folks in KW that are in the bussiness of raising good families and living the American dream. HOA systems are needed to protect real estate investments, but we are all asked at work and many other aspects of like to accept and champion change, so why can't they? 4951

I would do it,, with ATF permission,, what does HOA have to say,,, its behind closed doors. They cant say what you do inside your house. ONLY what effects your outside. There are tons ofpeople who have private business they run out of their home. The key is to have a P.O. Box for mail someplace else. 4951

The ATF is requiring permission from the HOA so they can't just do it anyway. 4951

That's interesting......there is someone on my street that runs a business out of her home and her clients use our street as a parking lot. I don't think hoa has said anything to her.  4951
