@squirtismyboy: The whole point of your argument is that they don't want education. That argument doesn't stand if you factor out their inability to afford education.

@EvanCarroll: but if they applied themselves in the k-12 years of free education they COULD earn a scholarship to a college/university which them they could afford the college education you speak of!

@mardigrasman:

False! The wealth gap is so big because those "without" won't educate themselves or even try to better themselves. Go to school, learn to handle money, invest, maybe get a job! Don't depend on the government to feed and house you. Don't blame the government for your lack of wealth! Get up and help yourself.

@squirtismyboy:
If we're talking about worlwide wealth, though, the argument doesnt work. There are, literally, tens of millions of people in Asia, India, and Africa, who are smart, and have good degrees, and have years of experience, who make $500 or less a month. There is effectively no government support in these areas, so it's not a matter of relying on the government, or education, or of being lazy. US citizens won a major life lotto by having been born in the States. 4951

@KingwoodDotCom: and what did this country DO to foster that? We haven't been around that long. Whose fault is it that the citizens live like that? They have had thousands of years to perfect their countries, why haven't they?

The U.N. is a reliable source  EmoticonOMG that is such a propaganda film. There is just so much wrong with it.First, if you make $500 a year where the rich only make a $3,000 a year, you aint poor. You are only poor when compared to one of the 1st world countries, with a higher standard of living.And quite frankly, I like the way they state that richer countries "compensate" for poorer countries by giving them money.Really? Well maybe then we are not doing them a favor and we should stop? Maybe that will cause them to move forward. Also I like the way we (we in the 1st world nation sense) are "stealing" money by building factories and employing people in those countries. When you look at how they present the data, it is total propaganda. Designed to make you think one way and not really see the true facts behind the pictures. 4951

How many of those citizens do you believe wouldn't accept a free scholarship if it was offered to them?

@EvanCarroll:

Growing up we had very little. I think we were lucky if dad had a buck in his Emoticonocket on pay day. He borrowed no money he had no credit cards. My sister worked for 3 bucks an hour and saved her money and started college age 18 and she continued to work and put herself through college and got a degree. I chose not to do the same. She has money. I do not...roflmao. people can get educated and climb their way up if they want to without free education. 4951

@BooBear: IMF, War, Imperialism, Colonialism, Slavery, Union busting, Murder, Manifest Destiny, Indian Genocide, Killing Socialist and Anarchist political dissidents, Appointing dictators and creating dictatorships, etc. When you run a fascist empire that will do anything for wealth, it's hard to argue that you don't do anything to foster inequality -- inequality is the ends, terror is the means. 4951

@EvanCarroll:
Those things still exist. America was not the only country built on slavery or the oppression of native people. We have moved on for the most part. Why? And why do the third world countries not do the same now? Or would you prefer for all countries to be lime that?

Then since you feel so sorry for them, YOU take care of them! They don't call it survival of the fittest for nothing. a lot of the third world countries you are feeling sorry for have had many, many years to accomplish what we have as a nation.

@mardigrasman: As a nation, we've never accomplished anything while having another nation kill our democratically elected leader, and appointing a dictator. 4951

Most of those countries that "are the victims of our policy" guess what, they choose to be.Like I stated before, lets stop giving them money and make their own future how about?Bet it doesn't work.Bet they just go to some other country, take their money and become slaves to "their" policy. 4951

We have only evisted for less than 300 years. They have existed for 1000's. Its not all our fault. Aren't we victims of our own policies as well?

@EvanCarroll:

Plenty do just that. Students say they're too poor to go to college, but if you're truly poor then you qualify for Pell grants and stafford loans. Plenty of people pass those options up. 4951
