Lucky you I went there for an eye infection b/c Med Spring wouldn't see in case I actually had something in my eye which I knew I didn't. I knew the copay would be higher but at that I was ok with that.  What they didn't tell me was that they weren't on my plan!  How can they not be on a major plan like BCBS from a  Walgreens employee.  When I checked out after the Dr looked into my eye and gave a prescription I see a stmt saying whatever insurance doesn't cover you are responsible for. I didn't think much abt that b/c They might not cover the Kleenex I used to wipe my eyes.  Well my insurance didn't pay zip!! My bill was for $1100. 4951

Yep those places are rip offs.The place on Northpark by Shipley's is great.  You go in, can get XRay's, Rx's, etc, and never pay more than $75 if you don't have insurance, regular copay if you do.  And you NEVER get another bill later on.We use them all the time.  Just convenient and never a shock a week later with a crazy bill.  The new ER place right by Kingwood hospital is the same rip off.People should be told this up front.

@Fallon:  Good to know!

I knew tNeighbors was more than a MINOR ER but who knew they aren't on anybody's plan! It's true I should have gone to KW Hosp ER and waited 4 or 5 hrs. You can't win!! I will def keep the place on NPk in mind. Funny thing is the drops I got actually made my eyes more irritated and I had to go to an eye Dr and pay another 149. ofc visit and get another $30 prescription!!! Neighbors will have to be happy to get $10 a month from me for the rest of my life!  I can't pay that!??  4951

@doddlebug: The key work is ER... They are a ER, and charge as such but they get you with the paper work. you sign away the rights to get a contract price adjustment.Make sure you use a URGENT CARE for the non-emergent care needs. There use to be on on the street beside Specs. Used it lots of times due to the office hours and they were WONDERFUL!!! I think its called KIngwood Urgent Care? The use to be really nice in there, but its been a couple of years since i had to use it.

Aetna sent us a notice that Neighbors was no longer on our plan. I had gone there once - service was good but I wont go back since they aren't on our plan. 4951

We went once when my son cut his foot and needed a couple stitches they accepted our plan United Health Care and we paid the ER copay.   If they are charging to much, or seem to convenient for people to use instead of cheaper alternatives I am sure our insurance will drop them.  4951

@Zephard:  No, of course not.  Emoticon I hit the Post button when I meant to hit Return to Message Board.  It created a blank post, so I edited it.  I wouldn't want people to think the old fart has started posting blank messages.

We had something similar happen to us.  I now know which 'emergency' places to go to for what and the amount it will cost.  Everyone should spend a morning on the phone doing your homework on that so it doesn't come back to bite you in the butt when you are in an emergency situation.  I learned the hard way. 4951
