So my boss is looking to adopt a German shepherd puppy today. He would prefer it to be pure bred but doesn't want to spend more then $50 because he just became a grandpa. If someone knows where to get 1 please let me know. 4951

Contact the German Sheperd rescue grooup of Texas.  You can Google them. Consider an older dog that needs a home - usually trained and minimal house destruction.  4951

Remind him about cost of vetting and spay or neutering the dog. It adds up! 4951

Taking on a dog requires more than the cost to "buy" one:  Vaccines Heart worm meds -monthlyFlea prevention -monthlyPlus any unknown medical issues( hip issues in shepherds) dogs can swallow things they shouldn't  German shepherds need tons of exercise and mental stimulation which requires lots of time and sometimes money  4951

@N+T: I can vouch for that one-stil going on 4-5mile walks at least 2 times a day to wear ours out.  She is destructive if we don't.

Well hes had dogs before but his last one passed away due to old age about a month ago. He just doesn't believe in spending hundreds of dollars on the adoption fee. 4951

And yet wants a pure-bred for $50?  The adoption fee helps to pay for the agency's cost to treat the dogs they take in.  Tell him to consider it a donation to a really good cause.  4951

@Nicole4647:
If he gets a dog off the side of the road he is in for a big surprise when he takes the dog to the vet and has to pay for deworming, fecal, heart worm test, rabies, 3 sets of boosters if a puppy. Talk him out of a puppy. They are a lot of work for an older person and it's a lifetime commitment. 4951

I know of a 6 year old purebred GSD that urgently needs a home through an individual who has cancer and has to rehome him. The dog has been taken care of his entire life and is very much a house pet.

though this was cool:Someone once wrote that "dogs come down from heaven in kits". This "kit" comes just as you've placed your order: male or femalepure bred or mixed breedyoung or oldBut if you don't look closely you might miss the fine print that says "some assembly required." When you open your doggie kit you'll quickly find that you may be required to assemble, or shape, your dog's behavior so that it works well in your home with you.Often the dogs capable of the best work are the ones that are capable of becoming a wild out of control dog. But the beauty here is that this same dog, the one that was once an out of control dog, could be your shining star 4951
