5pm is the perfect time to block a lane so you can put down mulch. The company, Mulch Matters. blocked the left lane on WLH (HEB) with their mulch truck to put down mulch....At 5pm! The truck is in the shade and there are no warning cones or anything. Nice. 4951

@Fallon, not HEB, they are putting mulch down in the median on WLH. I think this is a city of houston thing. 4951

@ShineyApples: I do too!  I dislike it at BOTH the KW and Atas locations.  But, I confess that I abandoned Kroger some time ago, for several reasons.  They kept moving the inventory around in their stores and I couldn't find anything!  Plus, the customer service just isn't what it used to be.  And...I just like HEB produce so much more!  But more important than any of the above, the price of HEB wines is amazing!

Back on topic, though, I agree.  Why mulch at 5pm?????  Hopefully they're finished by the time I head that way in about 15 minutes.  Emoticon 4951

@FallonI just have got to say, I lurve me some HEB.  They have stuff over there that you can't get anywhere else.  I love that store!!  I would endure bad parking or whatever just to go over there and peruse the aisles.  Though I did get spooked by a 40-something stoner who took a liking to me in there one time.  Here's what's good:  Haloumi cheese - it's very expensive, but you slice it up like steak fries and then just brown it in a hot dry skillet, or in a little olive oil and fresh garlic.  It is SO good.  It's chewy, doesn't melt because it's "grilling cheese".  I discovered this at a Mediterranean restaurant in my home town.  The owner told me what it was and how to cook it.Another good thing you can get at HEB and nowhere else:  pork roll.  This sounds bad, but is in fact awesome.  It's shaped like a jimmy dean sausage roll, but the meat is a much denser, finer texture of meat, similar to hard salami, but finer. Very flavorful and good.  You slice it thin and fry it up crispy.  Uh-mazing.  4951

HEB does have great guac and salsa. Better flavored tortilla chips than Doritos, pretzels are good too: nice and salty. Great beer selection and glad that mark what is made in Texas. They do have some alternative looking guy who is all tatted and pierced. But he is out there in the aisles helping shoppers and stocking so all is good.Parking blows all times of the day. 4951

I passed that truck,,, who was thinking of that great idea... OH City of Houston,, which NOBODY seems to represent Kingwood. All you hear is Houston, HOUSTON< HOUSTON... Real geniuses there.... They could at least have pulled to the cross street,, or do that at night.

As for HEB,,, I like some of their stuff,, but the store seems dirty to me. I hate the parking,,, I have a truck and most slots are for cars. Plus people cant drive,, many times I have almost been hit. 4951
