My new dental insurance is so limited that this is one of the only places covered. No individual dentists are covered. I'm very worried about trying this place. Is anyone a patient here? Reviews? Any help is appreciated. 4951

They are located right by kingwood.com office. I hear they are good. But very pricey. Maybe you could venture out a little further like Humble porter atascocita 4951

Thanks for the tip. I'm so leery of the chain type dentists. They probably get you in for your covered cleaning and then come up with a list of expensive procedures you "need" done. I'm looking further out right now and see Humble Dental Associates. Also Castle Dental, Lovett. 4951

Be careful with Humble Dental Associates, whatever you do - do not give them your CC# or Debit card # that they REQUEST to keep on file in case you forgot to pay them. That's when I left them, wasn't crazy about them anyway. 4951

Thanks for more good advice. They are part of a dental "chain" even though it doesn't appear like it. Same guy owns 6 offices. His overall site says they offer excellent career opportunities for "aggressive individuals" , gives me the creeps when that wording is used to describe a quality they want in their dentists. 4951

Some of the independents have problems too. Our last dentist (who we fired) kept using the porcelain fillings knowing that our insurance wouldn't cover it. 4951

@newcomer5   I had to buy the more expensive dental coverage my employer offered to really have more choices.  I also didn't want to use the chains, or Humble & they were the only ones up in the Humble, Kgwd area.  I didn't want to drive 25 miles each way to see a dentist.  But all dental ins. pretty much sux. It only covers the basics. 4951

Maybe I am being too critical, I just loved my dentist so much and definitely can't afford him without insurance. I'll make the best educated selection I can and hope for the best. But I will go off on someone if I feel like they are trying to sell me something, disgusting to think they might make commission off dental work. Gah! Sorry, I'll try to be more positive about this whole thing Emoticon 4951

We use Dr. Jerry Bautsch, he is not in network for our insurance but when I looked at the price difference for in vs out there really wasn't that much difference.  You might want to look at what the difference is for your insurance. 4951

That happened to me too. So **** about it. My son has to get teeth pulled now I can't get in somewhere to do it. Had appt with our dentist then the had to cancel cause coverage changed. I had such a bad experience with them when it was monarch dental or something like that. Told me I had 5 cavities and then went to my old dentist and had none! Never went back there again. So now back to the dentist in a box till I can switch insurance Emoticon 4951

Fallon - do you mean that you just pay out of pocket or do you have some type of reimbursement deal worked out with your insurance company?Mattem - your post is exactly my fear - especially for my kids. I had a dentist years ago try to scam me and I guess this is why I am so cynical. That and I hear too many similar stories about the "dentists in a box". But good point that independent dentists can be con artists too...Thanks for all the tips everyone, I really appreciate it. I'll just have to do my best I can with the information I have. 4951

I am the owner of Made Ya Smile Dental, Dr Mike Kesner.  We are not a dental chain.  We are a group of solo family practices.  No where on my site, or have I ever said that I am looking for "aggressive individuals" for dentists as stated above.  That was a mean thing to say.  The doctors I hire all have had many years of experience in practice and are excellent dentists.  The doctors in my Kingwood office are Dr. Mafla and Dr. Miller.  Both are excellent dentists and great family men.  Both are married and both have two daughters.  Their patients love them.   4951

Dr. Kesner - I am so glad you happen to read these posts! That is a surprise. First, I would like to let you know that the "aggressive individuals" statement was on another dental website, I apologize if that wasn't clear in my jumble of comments. I realize your offices are technically independent, but there is some corporate entity behind each office, correct? Hence the common name of the offices? I'm sorry I come off as so negative in my above posts. I guess my main concern stems from the fact that I have heard from multiple people how your staff seems to be trying to sell them services/procedures that are not necessary? I know there are a hundred ways to explain this away, but tell me this, does any of your staff work on a commission or reward system or does your "corporate office" have any type of goal system (ie, Lumineers, etc)??   4951
