The June 4 grand opening was delayed, but when I drove by last night, it was open and quite packed. Have any of you gone yet?  4951

I'm sure there will be a few foibles as there always are when a food place first opens. 4951

We just got back from Johnny's Pizza. The place was clean and comfortable.  We were greeted soon after we walked in the door.  The girl at the counter was very pleasant and showed us the selections.  They weren't real busy this early, but there must have been 12-15 employees there (they were still training).  We ordered the 14" Kitchen Sweep and a 1/4 muffaletta.  Along with two drinks, totaled about $25.When you walk in, the counter is at the back.  There are booths along the left wall and some along the right wall.  In the center are tables and a couple of nice heavy picnic tables.  They have a salad bar at the back to the right. Drinks are self-serve by the counter.  They have several TV's mounted on the walls and the sound was muted on all of them.  Atmosphere is casual and friendly. My wife and I split the muffaletta.  The bread was perfect, like a proper muffaletta should have.  The olive salad on it was great (it's shipped in from New Orleans).  The only thing negative I could say was that the amount of meat was a little low (not as much as a good New Orleans muffaletta would have).  It was hot and tasted great!  I would/will order it again! The pizza was also very good.  I can't say it's the best pizza I've ever had, but it was very good.  We brought home plenty for leftovers.  I will probably try a different type of pizza next time.  The service was very good.  They bring your order to your table and ask if you need plates, silverware, etc.  They promptly brought it when requested.  They don't hover over you, but it's easy to catch someone's attention if you do need something.  It took a little while for our pizza to be served, but not excessively long.  The muffaletta was hotter than the pizza so I wonder if they finished the pizza first and it sat for a few minutes until the muffaletta was done. While we were waiting for our pizza, we heard three different people at different tables say they were from Monroe or West Monroe (home of the original Johnny's Pizza).  The owners of this Johnny's Pizza were there making sure everything ran well and to train the employees. Overall, it's a good pizza place.  I can see it becoming very popular with youngsters. My daughter and her boyfriend couldn't go with us, but I suspect that I won't see any of that leftover pizza! 4951

@Retired: Thanks for the full report!  I'm not surprised there were some Monroe and West Monroe people in there.  You know... when I first tried Johnny's pizza, waaaaay back in the day... I didn't think it was the best pizza I had ever tasted.  I thought it was very good and there were times I prefered the old fashioned chewy stretchy crust like other pizza places have, but over the years that Johnny's pizza really grew on me more than I realized and when I moved from the area, I didn't know I was going to miss it as much as I did.  So for the past 6 years that I've lived here, I've tried to get a Johnny's pizza every time I've visited home.  I'm so glad we have one here.  I cannot believe I haven't been yet, but I am definitely going tomorrow.  :-) 4951
