The stray dog's ears are itching. He seems miserable. Is there a home remedy for mites? They look pretty clean. Keeps scratching and shaking his head and moaning. Poor guy. 4951

Might not be mites.Bree gets that every so often, just dirty/allergy whatever. We buy a bottle of dog ear wash, and just clean them like every day or every other day for a couple weeks, good as new. Just went through one of those episodes.Sassy our golden used to get the same thing like twice a year. Lucky for us this is only Bree's third in her life (she'll be 5 this year). 4951

A vet needs to take a look, you don't want to treat for the wrong thing. 4951

Please take the doggie to the vet; I had a dog die of ear mites.  They are very painful.  You can also get ear wash at Walmart & use a Q tip to remove wax.  Don't go too far in to clean. 4951

My foster had terrible ears that she kept itching and she eventually tore up her face with all the itching.  The vet kept diagnosing it as an ear infection for at least a month or two.  I finally took her to my vet and they found out she had a yeast infection in her ears, they got her the right medication and it cleared up in a week.  I felt so bad for her.  She still has the scars on her face from tearing it up.  I would recommend a vet checking them out.  My other dog suffers from allergies and the vet said to give him allergy medicine and that seems to help. 4951

I put a little olive oil in his ears with a qtip & that's helped a bit. He's not my dog.  Still hoping the owners show up.If no one claims him by Friday, he will be listed with Twyla's & taken to the vet.    4951
