My hubby and I just got back from a week at the beach in Mississippi. While there we visited a local casino for a lunch buffet. While eating at the buffet, I noticed a young couple waiting in line with their toddler who couldnt have been more than 16 months old. The child was dressed only in a t-shirt and diaper, no shorts, pants, socks, shoes, sandals or any other type of clothing. While waiting in the buffet line the parents were letting the child run around. I told my hubby I wasn't sure the staff would let the parents bring the child in due to the way he/she was "dressed" but sure enough, the parents and child were allowed in without a word being said to them. Now, I know I am older (in my 50s) and this casino was not in Vegas but come on! If my daughter tried bringing my grandson into a public place dressed only in a t-shirt and diaper I would have stopped it before we left home. Any other thoughts on this? 4951

I totally agree.  Momma's always feel the way our family dresses is a direct reflection on us...Thus the scene you are talking about. 4951

Just got back from eating dinner at Jason's and a couple with a toddler at the next booth was allowing him to chew on his shoe.  He also had a nasty loose cough.  Eeecckkk.  The other child was running around bothering people close by and the parents were oblivious to it all. 4951

Impossible to imagine what some people could be thinking walking out of their houses into public. I think the fact that you have no idea whether said toddler was a "he" or a "she" pretty much says it all. Emoticon 4951

People have no pride. But look at all the adults and how they are dressed. I've seen some wear the PJ bottoms to the store, fleshy fliers on planes (tank top, shorts). How do the teachers dress in middle and high school? At elementary school the kids are sometimes dressed nicer than the teachers. Back in the day the male teachers rocked a tie.Everytime our boys hassle us about drssing nice we just tell them it is a reflection on our family. 4951

i don't put shoes on Taylor because she's 6 months old and she just takes them off and flings them. Haha!i did see a girl about 3 or 4 years old in michael's with no pants, socks, or shoes. i could only hope she had an accident and they didn't have a change of clothes for her.  4951

@applebottom:
I'm barefoot every chance I get. Why would 'no shoes' be a reflection of poor taste ?
