Face palm

So what was his reason for going against a unanimous vote?

The bill does nothing to change the current law in Texas already. 4951

@pksbar:
I googled for the story and came across this. OMG the LULZ. It says the reason he vetoed it is because he lost his run for President and therefore 'hates America'. Makes sense to me lol

Here is the real reason he vetoed the bill:http://governor.state.tx.us/news/veto/18568/TO THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EIGHTY-THIRD TEXAS LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION: Pursuant to Article IV, Section 14 of the Texas Constitution, I, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, do hereby disapprove and veto House Bill No. 535 of the 83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, due to the following objections:House Bill 535 requires state agencies, when purchasing goods, to give preference to goods "manufactured" in Texas. Current law already requires state agencies to give preference to goods produced and grown in Texas. While I support and encourage our agencies to buy goods from Texas businesses, this bill simply does not change current law.

But it does make slight changes to the law if you read here

www.legis.state.tx.u s/tlodocs/83R/analys is/html/HB00535E.HTM

It gives first preference to goods made in texas by disabled veterans and then it gives preference to American made goods over foreign goods. Those are the changes that he vetoed.

Why? 4951

Not to mention there is something to be said for American (non-Texan) good over foreign goods too. 4951

He said it creates redundancyhttp://www.bizjournals.com/austin/blog/abj-at-the-capitol/2013/05/two-vetoes-and-counting-for-perry.htmlHouse Bill 535, authored by State Rep. Yvonne Davis, D-Dallas, would have expanded the criteria under which state agencies are required to promote and give preference to bidders with goods and services made or grown in Texas or the United States over out-of-state and foreign competitors in cases where the cost and quality of competing goods are equal.Perry argued that current law already requires state agencies to do this, making HB 535 redundant.“While I support and encourage our agencies to buy goods from Texas business, this bill simply does not change current law,” he wrote in his veto statement 4951

You keep parroting what he says, but you've not provided any evidence that the current law already requires this. Certainly, every other conservative disagrees -- as they all voted for it. 4951

The link I gave that is from the state of texas notes the differences. The link from the state indicates that current law does not favor vets over non-vets nor does it favor non-Texan American goods over foreign.

@EvanCarroll and @KellyG have their panites in a bunch over this, ut don't care about all the crimes committed by OBama. Heck, not even upset that OBama has stalled on approving the northern portion of the Keystone pipeline that would create thousands of jobs and decrease our dependancy on foreign oil. Nope, they are more worried that the state government won't purchase Shiner over Bud Light at the Christmas party. 4951

@TexINS: Your inability to address anything whatsoever without pointing your finger at Obama is laughable. Everyone get's a free pass on everything, because Obama is in office!
