No way any decent responsible dentist would not allow a parent with their child.Â
RUN away and find a real dentist.
And no way as a parent would I ever allow that. Â Too many really good dentists in our area for us to have to deal with that bs. Â I am appalled that any parent would allow this. Â
@Fallon: I am appalled at this as well, but it seems to be the norm lately. I don't know if it's parents being "afraid" to stand up to the almighty dentist (
), indifference, lack of education/knowledge or just laziness in terms of taking the time to find a good, caring dentist who has both the patients' AND their parents' best interest at heart (no one take that the wrong way...not referring to anyone specifically here, just in general. Ugh. The stock internet "disclaimer"...
). There are some parents who are perfectly comfortable sending their babies back with virtual strangers for procedures, but there are some who are not, and the latter who voice their concerns only to be told, "Sorry! Policy!" should seriously think about the intent of their care provider, IMO.
Â
Also, just because you have young children doesn't mean you have to succumb to the pediatric dentists' ridiculous "rules"...there are plenty of great, caring family dentists who will see your child and let you make the call as to what's best for YOUR child. In my personal experience, the majority of pediatric dentists just herd the kids in and out of there like cattle and they have grown completely indifferent to their patients' parents' needs/concerns. Â

Dime a dozen, folks!
