My daughter is 10 and has been complaining of a pain in her stomach since this morning. She made it through school and even went to the skate rink on a field trip. She said she was hurting at the rink, but didn't want to say anything. When she came home she said it hurt more but it was coming and going. Now she keeps waking up and telling me that she goes to sleep but then it hurts and wakes her up. It is between where her ribs meet right under her sternum. She said when she pushes it sometimes makes it worse, but sometimes it feels better.
Has anyone dealt with anything like this in a child before? Anyone have experience with pancreas / appendicitis? 4951

appendicitis would be lower right side and she would be doubled over in pain usually.  have you given her anything like pepto or an antacid?  Does the pain go thru to her back also? 4951

sometimes if i eat something that doesn't sit well, it'll feel like a ball of glue in my upper belly. usually a good poo will take care of the pain. 4951

Ok so this is funny, but it has to do with explaining this.
She is not constipated because this morning she was in my bathroom and kept yelling and griping at someone but I knew no one was in there. She kept saying "stop looking at me" "I'm gunna smack you" one more time and that's it" just random stuff like this. So naturally I do what every good mom does, I tell Tony, "hey listen to the Lil Mama she has lost her damn mind" I peeked in to see what the commotion was just as she let another empty threat escape.
She was b!+(h!mg at THE CAT!!! lmao. Psycho chic, was so **** by this point she trying to throw toilet paper at her. I was laughing so hard by time she noticed me.
Ahhhahaha.... so I know she pooped today. This has been an issue in the past, enough that the doctor has written a RX for laxative like Metamucill.
She came and got in and with us, and I noticed she doesn't have a fever but is clamey and sweating enough I had to change her shirt. I am going to try and get her an appointment in the morning. :'( as a parent one of the worst feelings is when your baby hurts and you are helpless. 4951

my oldest has a terrible problem with it. she is 20 now and still dos. Dairy products is the number 1 culprit. Gentle enemas have had to be done more than once when younger. She ended up in the ER over it one time. she was a little older but didnt tell me that she was on almost 2 weeks with out going.....:-(  She also had a prescription but we found making her take a very gentle softener every morning helped it from getting to "that Point" because once to that point over the counter doesnt work.poor baby........poor innocent cat.......LOL 4951

@4psychos: Sounds silly but how they check with my dd to see if it is appendicitis or not, is to have her jump up and down 3 times.  If she can do it w/o screaming in pain, it's not that.I hope she feels better soon!

A looooong night for this Mama. Not good news but better news is she is able to walk without crying, and the weird night sweaty thing is gone. So hopefully we are not in between episodes and she is on the fast track to getting better. I mean lets be honest my time is very limited before summer vacation then my kids will be home ... with me...all day...everyday....Ooooo the horror of it all! Lol 4951

Best thing would be take her to the Doctor for them to check her out. Is she running a fever? My daughter had that stomach flu going around and she had a bad stomach ache with it and fever. With little ones you can never be to careful. I heard on the news this morning about a new virus hitting the USA but, I missed what they had to say about what it was..Did anyone see that on the news this morning?? 4951

I had appendicitis at age 8, had "attacks " for weeks before, esp after running around outside on the playground at school. My final attack occurred on a Girl Scout hike the day after Halloween (everyone said I'd eaten too much candy). The pain was Not on the right side, but on the left side, then center! Dr did a blood test and I had surgery that night, it would have burst if left alone. My ds#2 had a terrible stomach virus years ago, he was so ill that the dr sent us to St Luke's  b/c she knew his white cell count was up, but couldn't be sure. They monitored him in the ER for several hours, then sent us home, better safe than sorry! 4951
