Please explain why mama is excited about new pencils. You really need to step up your game if this woman loves you and has your children and gets excited over pencils! Lol 4951

@4psychos:  It happens.  I used one special pen all through college.  It was a Paper Weight but it fit my hand and I liked the color ink.  When I graduated, I retired that pen and put it away.  A couple of weeks ago, I noticed my wife was using my "special" pen!  I took it from her and put it away.  I gave her another pen and told her not to use my "special" pen!  I know, I'm weird.  4951

@ruk72:
If it is a real pencil, not a typo or innuendo to something else then.....
Oooooo! Lol I with you as far as being simple, it is less complicated that way.

@zephard:I'm assuming they're talking about turned pens & pencils on a lathe? I do that too! I've made pens with snake skin, a corn cob & all kinds of exotic wood from all over the world. What kind of lathe do you have? I've got a Nova DVR XP. 4951

@Retired_Engineer: Or paper Mate?
I have a stainless steel, Paker I used all through the military.It even has a burned spot where I being young and stupid placed it in a Microwave Radio klystron high voltage and caused a very large spark. 4951

@WskyTngoFxtrt: At the moment, all I can say is a Jet mini.  The model is not in my head
and I am not near it.  Will write you back the model if you want to
know.I have gotten a lot of local wood, particularly a specific
oak that fell on my house Christmas Day last year.  But have some Pecan,
red cedar, and spalted river birch.  Got some Black Locust that has
some really strong reddish grain patterns, and some Box Elder (thats got
some pink running through it), some black walnut, some hackberry, cotton wood and some I not sure what they are, but they make a good pens.  So a mix of locals
that I was able to pick up here and there.I have some Rosewood
and Paduak, and have had some interest in getting some of the other exotics from around the world, just have to much right now to go running off buying more.
Got me a small hand full of Cocobola blanks, but not a lot.  Pick me up a couple of small oak burls recently, got to let them finish drying.

@FoFa:  You are correct.  It was a Paper Mate, not a Paper Weight.  As for the microwave, we all do dumb things when we were young!  Emoticon

Not to be picky, but are you calling a pen a pencil?  To me, a pencil is a wooden writing utensil with an eraser on one end, and sharpened on the other, with lead in between from end to end.  The pictures you are showing appear to be a pen, which uses ink. 4951

@manhunter: You're showing your age!  When I started college in 1973, engineering students typical used mechanical pencils that were originally designed for drafting.  However, they were so popular, they began to replace the old wooden pencils.  I used one just like this:I still have a couple of these pencils in my desk.Contrary to what Hollywood often portrays, as an engineering student, I did not carry a pocket protector filled with pens/pencils.  I carried a mechanical pencil and my "special" Paper Mate pen.  Same for all my years working as an engineer.
