I couldn't imagine losing my Mommie (you know what is going on with her) or either on my in-laws
I would like personally say, thank you on behalf of my entire family for the services he so bravely performed for our community and nation. It takes a very special person to be in that kind of work, a true selfless character. You are obviously proud of who he was/is, I am so sorry for your loss.
@4psychos:
Thank you so much. Yes I always looked at him as a hero. I have some of his old helmets that the face shield actually melted on his face from the heat but he kept on. He was the one that would keep going back in even after his captain called it too difficult. He told me of a time that he performed CPR for 40 minutes. If you aren't aware, performing CPR is very exhausting. Once his pumper was the first on the scene for a girl threatening to jump off the ship channel bridge. He got literally 2 ft away from her, enough so that his 1 hand managed to touch her, trying to grab her right as she jumped. That tore him up. He saved many lives though. Another thing he did, he was walking to the Stop and Go that was across the street from the station, and saw that there was a man pointing a gun at the store worker. He ran right in and the guy pointed the gun at him, but he managed to punch the guy and knock him out (while the guy had his guy pointed at my dad). Crazy thing to do but that is just who he was. Also, when not on duty, if we were driving and he saw an accident he stopped EVERY time to help. Also, I remember a time that he had a heart attack at Astroworld on a ride with me, but refused to go to the hospital. On the way home he was ghost white and not doing well at all, but we came across a car that was stopped in the street. It was a woman that was drunk and passed out with her car just stopped on a busy street. Even in the condition he was in, he knew the danger to her and other drivers that may hit the car, so he got out and picked her up and carried her to our car, pushed her car off the street, and had my mom drive her to her home. I was about 10 years old but still remember being in awe of how dedicated he was. Once I am able to gather enough "extra" money, since I'm off work sick on disability, I plan to get a tattoo of his badge. Can't wait to be able to do that in his honor. He served selflessly for sure. 4951
