So I was attempting to get down Northpark today until some idiot in a white lexus SUV pulls out in front of me by the walmart market while im going 50 causing me to swerve to avoid them. Then I get a mile down and it happens again. Then Im by the post office and another idiot in a green BMW STOPS in the middle of the intersection because there wasnt enough room for her to fit her car so instead of pulling up right behind the car she sits in the intersection. Even if there was enough room I still would of hit her if I didnt veer into the middle school parking lot. Now its time to head to the dentist on kingwood drive...theres an 18 wheeler stalled in the right lane and someone else pulls out infront of me and stops by the 18 wheeler, so to avoid ANOTHER accident I have to go in the turn lane and come through the intersection. And finally i go to 494 and another car is in the right lane and decides while im next to him to turn left...this is y kingwood has traffic...people stopping in the road...and if im describing ur car or almost got hit by a brand new white hyundai elantra...LEARN TO DRIVE...and if u dont i honestly pray u total ur car and have ur license revoked...and if im the 1 that hits u...i will sue u for pain and suffering... 4951

you should slow down. the speed limit is only 45 on Northpark and if you hit someone from the rear, guess what, Its your fault in Texas for failure to control speed. Even if they are stopped because YOU didnt maintain a safe distance. YOU will be the one sued. but I doubt anyone will lose their license. 4951

You'll lose a lot of stress by just realizing one thing:   People are idiots and they will do idiotic things.  If you expect people to do something stupid, you will be more prepared to react.  Kingwood isn't a highway, so people make stops and turns.  @BooBear is right.  If you hit someone in the rear, it's your fault. 4951

Half the people would have been a t bone accident...the other Half would have been a mix between a t bone and rear end accident...only reason I didn't hit them is I expected it... 4951

I agree with @Nicole4647 - the drivers in Kingwood are awful. When did it become okay to pull out into the street in front of a car going 40 to 45 (the speed limit) and then go 20 or 30? I hate driving on North Park past Gold's, then Walmart, etc.  Don't get me started on how slow everyone drives in Kingwood. I was going to work this morning and the lady in front of me on West Lake Houston was going 20, maybe 25 at the most. Is it asking too much to be able to go 40? She was holding up the whole lane - I changed lanes and saw her way back in that lane. 4951

This is not a law, and it is not necessarily true.  It is a very common misconception though.  I also thought it was a law, but a lawyer told me it's not.  He was representing my DD who rear-ended some idiot who squeezed in front of her, then hit the car in front of him which had stopped for the light, and she (DD) then hit him.

@SandyKnee: The cops will cite you at fault if someone pulls out in front of you and manages to get all the way into the lane before you hit them, meaning you hit them square from behind.  If you hit them and they are still at an angle, they will cite the other driver for failure to yield right-of-way. I had multiple Humble cops and New York cops tell me this. Most lawyers will tell you "cops don't determine fault," but the insurance companies pretty much go with what the cops say 99% of the time.

@SandyKnee:  There are always exceptions but from experience, if you hit someone in the rear, you're probably going to be at fault.  My son experienced one of those exceptions.  He was stopped in a line of cars at a stop-light, an illegal immigrant ran into the back of a car behind my son, which then hit my son's car, and his hit the car in front of him, etc.  Of course, the illegal immigrant did not have insurance. The cop wrote him several tickets, but didn't arrest him.  Fortunately, no cars were significantly damaged and the cop told everyone they would have to work out any repairs with their own insurance.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day.  I was trying to get into the left turn lane at a stop-light.  The left-turn lane was empty, but the car in front of me had stopped where I couldn't ease over.  He/she saw what I was trying to do and they pulled up far enough that I could get into the lane.  This rarely happens! 4951
