>> Heard this on the radio this morning.(I thought that kid's name was "Tango Blast"...I guess it's the name of a gang...)"An annual assessment of threats posed to Texas by gangs has found a different violent group leads the list. The Texas Gang Threat Assessment reports Tango Blast, estimated at 10,000 members, has displaced the 6,000-member Texas Mexican Mafia atop the threat list."http://www.chron.com/news/texas/article/Texas-DPS-review-finds-shift-in-top-gang-threat-4402011.php
@KingwoodDotCom: Tango Blast is one of several Mexican base gangs that pose a threat, along with Texas Syndicate (TS), Mexican Mafia, and MS-13. We also have spill over from the Zetas, which is a cartel / gang hybrid. These gangs are much more violent than the more traditional street gangs that are American City suburb based such as the Bloods and Crips. Â
@manhunter: Is this more of a threat in the inner city or should we be concerned?
@mpjp0907: Yes, I would say it is more of an "inner city" threat which is where most of the gang members live, however, it is becoming more common for them to branch out to other areas to commit certain crimes. In actuality, most gang crime is directed at other gangs, but along the way innocent victims get caught up the violence. The overall threat to the community from gangs is the crimes they commit to support their lifestyle, ie: drugs, burglaries, car-jacking, etc...., which can in turn lead to violence.
