While loading my car some 20 something peddled up on his bike  asking for spare change. I didn't have any and he peddled off and asked another person (the old woman did give money).Then I was leaving the parking lot (the exit by the Jehovah Witness hall) there was a hispanic man holding a sign with the message "no work, need rent $$, food money $$$. Next to him was his wife and about 5 children. I didn't know to be upset or **** off at that site. And why the neighbordhood Walmart? Most of us that shope there are on a budget? Why not hit up the folks at Kroger or Randall's?   4951

Maybe I'm a jerk, but people who do that make me extremely uncomfortable. I have slowly stopped going to the Neighborhood Market because it seems there is always someone selling something or asking for money. I can't stand being solicited when I'm grocery shopping. 4951

@Katiemcg:

I agree it drives me crazy when people bug to buy what they are selling. Why cant the stores stop this?

@silly123: some of the folks who solicit right by the entrance/exit are approved groups that are allowed to do this as a fund raiser (sometimes I give, not always because I usually don't carry cash). The ones that are referenced in the above post, I do not give to or they never ask me (not that I would give anyway).Some of these panhandlers are professional and move around to different locations...check out this thread from one of the sister sites.......http://www.atascocita.com/messages/what_i_did_to_the_panhandlers_yesterday.php?message_board_parent_id=290939

The neighborhood WM is the worst about letting people sit by the door and ask for money. Honestly I don't mind at all if it's Girl Scouts or a local baseball team or the like, but that guy collecting donations for drug rehab?? Heck no!  I actually drive away and go to another store when I see him.  I don't want to patronize a store that supports begging. 4951

The neighborhood Walmart is so convenient to me, but I cringe when I drive up and see the people sitting at the tables collecting for whatever. I do so wish that Walmart didn't allow that. I can hardly say no, so I sometimes just drive off. Depends on how strong I feel that particular day...I wish walmart could realize how that drives customers away. 4951

@Katiemcg: Last time I was there, there was a bunch of homophobic Christians at the front asking for donations and ringing a bell.
