www.nytimes.com/2011 /11/17/business/ener gy-environment/route -proposals-may- there is a "glut" of oil in the midwest from Canada. Because of this, the price of oil there is very cheap -- supply is greater than demand. This pipeline will permit that oil to be successfully commiditized and exported. That means no glut in the midwest. That means domestic artificial scarcity, price will go up there. That means the midwest too competes with China for the price of the barrel. The midwest will join China and the USA in the global oil market -- which drives up the price for you, greater demand in this global petro market. How much higher? Well right now a whole swath of this country gets dirty nasty tar-sands oil at a $27.88/barrel discount. In addition, factor in the midwest paying the full market price and products from the midwest (ie., food) go up because of the price for inputs. 4951

@TexINS: This coming from the guy who whines about the upcoming highway because his Representative tells him some trees will have to be cut down, and you believe it?? lol(of course, there is truth to the claim trees will be cut down, and there is truth to the detriments of the pipeline -- but you're not here to discuss the reality of the situation are you?)

The toyota I drove in high school, God rest its soul, never had an oil change while I drove it.. if it started making a clink sound I would add a quart of oil and it was all good. 4951

@mm4731:
Well, MY oil changes for LIFE are free...Michael does it and I make him use his half of his check...I get that because I have a vagina.

Now that I get older, I really appreciate the comic stylings of Ralph Malph. He was probably one of the most underrated characters on Happy Days. 4951

@PedroDePacas even if it was for international use, who cares? The additional oil would be great for Texas refineries and port. 4951

@TexINS: I agree. I just want to see Evan's reputable source that the product is specifically for foreign consumption like he staed. 4951

He's probably looking at all his left leaning go to web sites to see if someone made up, err, has a graph showing the oil will go to China. The graph will probably have an oil drop with a scowl, a huge chineses flag, and some fish with x's on their eyes. 4951
