The other day I saw a mom giving her 1-2 year old coke zero. I wanted to say something, but kept going. Feel a little bad about not sticking up for the kid.  4951

@BooBear I did MYOB@4psychos because the kid can't tell the mom. "Mom, this probably isn't the best thing for me. How about some milk or water". "I don't want the caffeine (I will be up all night and you will be **** at me), I don't want to be a lard **** at age 5, and I don't want a mouth full of cavities by my first dental visit?" 4951

Oh well I guess your right considering all the evidence you have. Like she consumes large quantities of carbonated caffeine infused beverages on a daily basis. Her mom had juice/milk/water stashed away in her bag, that might havee been running low of supplies due to an unexpected emergency. You must have been able to observe the amount of buildup on the child's teeth during your brief glance while walking by. Your right you shouldn't say anything. 4951

Darn, posted twice. I'm a little rusty. Anyway is it commonplace to give little ones soda? We didn't allow our boys to have soda until they were 6. Now pretty limited.@Retired_Engineer thanks. I got put in timeout for a week (even though the other person got to carry on, I guess I know which way the moderator leans) then out on a biz trip. 4951

I'm not disagreeing with you that children should not consume large amounts of caffeine, but as a Mom there are always those circumstances that you just have to make due. As a mom a would rather my child take a drink of soda then be suffering from thirst. On the flip side if you personally know someone and its a habit of there's, if you feel compelled then sure. Don't judge something that has so many unanswered questions. When you see something like this just purchase a bottle of water, tell the mom I just got this but its the wrong one and ask if the child can have it. Maybe if she notices the seal is not broken she would a cept, I don't know if I would take it or not, but again...uncertainty. 4951

@TexINS:  Everyone has different "rules" for their children.  Do what you consider the best for your children and don't worry about other children.  You got put into timeout because you broke the rules and called someone (we all know who) a name.  He can be extremely frustrating (and so can you) but he thrives on conflict.  He doesn't even stop when someone partially agrees with him (on any subject).  You are both very strong in your convictions, but they are complete opposites.  Do yourself a favor and don't get into arguments with him.  Maybe he'll go away if we ignore him.
