@GoldenGirl:
go to Sal's Automotive,,, right next to NAPA, on Northpark,,, he is quick, affordable, and will give you an honest answer...  it does not look like a garage,, ,its on the west side of NAPA, behind a large RV,,, email me if you have questions,,, thats where I go. 4951

Try Beckwith's Car Care on 1960. I just spent a month, 3 different places, and 2200.00  trying to fix something I knew was wrong with my car. The first 2 places I went to was the Goodyear behind Steinmart and the Goodyear on 1960. Both places could'nt fix what I brought it in for but found other things to work on. Finally on the fourth week tried Beckwiths. They called me back in 20 minutes. I got my car back the next day. BTW one of those Goodyears had my car for 4 days trying to figure it out.  Again Beckwiths figured it out in 20 minutes. Beckwiths is also owned and run by a female. I thought that was kinda cool.  4951

Our AC went out on our way home from our family trip to Disney World. Think Alabama, July, and a 15 year old princess.
As soon as we got home, we took it to the Goodyear place behind Steunmart. They were great. Recharged it and replaced the freon.
We have used them for about 10 years and have always been pleased with their service. 4951

If it needs freon that means that you have a leak. The systems are sealed and the proper way to repair it is to hook up gauges and check the pressure. If it is low they will need to find out where it is leaking. I would guess that you have a bad o-ring. Depending on how long you intend to keep the car it would be best to capture the freon and replace all of the o-rings and dryer. Then they will pull a vacuum and then add A/C oil and freon to the system. If you just add freon without pulling the vacuum you can risk the pressure being too high and this could cause some damage or injury. If you just add freon then this will continue to be a on going problem. If you run the system low on freon, you risk causing damage to the ac compressor. 4951

There is a pressure switch on the dryer.  It is possible you are right on the edge of pressure in your system.  Going on and off is an indication.  Go to Wal Mart and buy freon, R 134, and charge your system yourself.  I did it when my truck had a slow leak.  You can learn how to do it on You Tube, google, or ask someone at an Auto parts store.  Saves you a lot of $'s.  Hope this fixes your problem. 4951
