We recently got a female German shephard pit mixed and she is 3 months. This is the 3rd day she has been with us. The previous owner told us that she was well with other dogs turned out to be false. We have 2 male boxers and she is so aggressive towards them and our neighborhood dogs also. Is she bieng like this bc it's somewhere new? Also she has never been in a kernel and all she does is whine the only time it stops is when she goes to bed or when no one is home and when we let her out she goes all crazy

Does anybody have advise? 4951

I thought you wanted a husky? Craig list sucks. You should have worked with a rescue group. We try to match the dog with the right family. Three big DOGS is too much IMO. 4951

The German Shepherd part of the pup is trying to become the alpha dog of the group. The pitbull part just wants to fight. Or she is 3 months and scared of the boys.Just going to have to get her used to the kennel. Maybe a little bit at a time, take her for a walk prior to putting her in the cage. We put a a little blanket over our dog's kennel , to give it a more lair type feeling. 4951

It can take a while for the new pup to settle down just based on the fact of pack dynamic.   You should expect your home to be in more chaos due to the dogs needing to find their new place in the pack.   During a time when bringing a new dog in you have to step up and be a real dominate pack leader or your dogs and the new dog will try and push for leader.    Be firm take the time to follow through on all corrections.  Keep your head higher the dogs.  Stand between your dogs and the new dog say firmly and authoritatively no.  Get the dog to back down on its own accepting your leadership.   If you have to put a dog on its back while it is young.  Get this under control now while it is young and not its full size.   Train with food.  As in make the dog give you/ drop food it has in its mouth.  They have to give it up on there own do not pull out of mouth, put dog on back and keep repeating drop until it does on its own.   This is a good way to show you are pack leader.    Today it may take 15 min or more for the dog to obey you (take the time) each day it will get less time consuming if you are doing it right. 4951

Each time the dog acts out and you crumble out of not knowing what to do it will re-enforce the behavior.  Every time it does it without you taking a big stand physically, emotionally, and dominantly the dog will assume it has risen above you. You need to get the dog behind you and turn to it  (you in between it and the other dog)and forcefully correct it when it is going out of control like mentioned above.  Make you hand a claw and use it as your teeth using fingers to put pressure on the side of its neck when correcting or using on its rump when forcing it to sit down and accept you as leader. 4951

And please do not get a 4th dog, even if you really want a puppy...4 large dogs is too much! 4951

@cindyy: Female shepherd like being the alpha.  You need to socialize her also, get her used to being around other dogs, people, etc.For crate training, get a special toy or treat that she only gets there.  Make it a safe and enjoyable place.  If she hasn't been in a crate, you may have to start out slower.  Praise her when she goes in.

Imo, she is aggressive to your other dogs vc she is scared of them. She is just a puppy, and will snap out of fear. i think she just needs time to adjust also. As far as what another person posted, he aggression does not necessarily have to do wih her breed. But with any larger breed dog, you will need to teach/let her know hat YOU are alpha.....not her, not the other dogs. Periodically, lay her on her back with you over her....and don't let her up until she relaxes. Then reward her by letting her up. Do that with your other dogs as well.....this will help the "pack realize you are the boss...not them. And, I have 4 larger dogs and love it. But, do not get another dog until this new puppy is well adjusted and alla is peaceful within the pack. I have a shep./pit mix and i can tell you that you have one of the absolute smartest dogs around. Very easy to train.... Are you sure she is only 3 months old? Does she still have all of her puppy teeth?? 4951

Well......... Don't you know pit bulls have been bred for generations for animal aggression??? It is genetically programmed to behave just like its doing. Probably why it was turned into a rescue agency. If you have young children you need to "rethink" keeping this pit bull mix as the prey drive could cause it to attack your child. No trainer can "guarantee" behavior modification. Beware of any "expert" here that says they can. I've owned some of the highest titled working dogs imported into the US and have bred some top working dogs also so I know the facts. Good luck. 4951
